No such rule mate. The business world would grind to a halt if there was.

When you get into due diligence you have to but they do not have to say anything right now and, frankly, they haven't said anything really have they - there is more in the Sun that the statement. They do not need to confirm they are in talks or that an offer has been made.

One thing I think we are all missing here is the fact that this is probably Bernie's stake. Given that the guy is a schrude as they come. You don't get to where he's got too without being that way. He know's some of the most powerful people on the planet and I am sure if he's selling up it will be to someone who has a crazy amount of money behind them!

Sorry that is meant to say "until" an offer is made. To that point no obligation to explain who you are talking to about anything

Bernie wants out. He can see how much it costs to be successful in the Premiership and he's not interested.

None of us know if this will be good, bad or none of the above so lets just wait and see.

I think there is and if it is as you suggest, that would lead to insider dealing and is why they do need to announce something to the market, so everyone knows at the same time.

This just isn't true. Insider trading is about the artificial movement of share prices and falsely stimulating or otherwise affecting the price of stock. This announcement is not an announcement of any substance at all. Talks about talks. No requirement for it at all.

Maybe I'm confusing you. Or maybe confusing myself !

What I meant by "private", was one owned privately, as opposed to the public being able to purchase a stake such as in a "plc".

The statement says **** all so helps no one, not staff, squad, creditors no one. They could sit there saying nothing forever quite frankly - until there is a deal it is essentially two blokes talking. Nothing gained from this, bar, slightly, it being honest and open. But is only a smidge even in that direction.
Id be willing to bet the negotiations are further along than what we have been told...

Would you rather the fans were kept in the dark?.. The statement isnt designed to help the staff, the squad, its been put out to keep the fans in touch. Why do the staff need helping? There jobs will remain whoever is in charge. Same go's for the team if they are good enough for where were heading.

Surely it would be better for us to start the selling process now than have Bernie still in charge at the end of the season and not wanting to spend in the summer if negotiations take a while. It makes sense for the people buying as well, they can invest properly to keep Rangers in the top flight.
