  • Wales v England Fiasco (could affect some QPR Fans)

You honestly could not make it up but a month after us paying for our Wales v England tickets the Welsh FA have suddenly discovered they dont have enough tickets for all of us!!

Luckily my block is not affected but I think the whole situation stinks and the fan hets let down again by those we are suppoed to trust

Here is the statement all England Members recieved this afternoon

    Important Wales Ticket Info
    Wednesday, 02 Mar 2011

Important information for englandfans GOLD members who have purchased match tickets for Wales v England in Cardiff on Saturday 26 March.

We have been informed by the Football Association of Wales (FAW) that they have reduced our previously agreed allocation of tickets for the Wales v England match.

Below is a statement from Jonathan Ford, the Chief Executive for the FAW.

    Message to englandfans

It is with regret that I must confirm that the Football Association of Wales has had to reduce the allocation of tickets for the Wales v England match on Saturday 26th March. The reason for this reduction is that the total tickets that the Football Association of Wales understood could be made available for sale was incorrect.

After we received notice of this error, we have done everything possible to protect The FA’s allocation of tickets. However, I am afraid it has not been possible to protect the entire allocation and as a result, England fans will now receive 951 fewer tickets (tickets allocated in block N1 and block UN1 will not be provided). We have directed The FA to provide a full refund of the ticket price to all fans affected by this error, including any delivery fees associated with each ticket order.

I would like to make it clear that it is not solely England fans who have been affected by this error; it has also been necessary to withdraw a significant number of tickets from Welsh fans. The total number of tickets for English fans still exceeds the agreed quota of 10% of the total tickets available.

On behalf of the Football Association of Wales, I would like to apologise unreservedly for the disappointment that this will cause.

    Jonathan Ford
    FAW Chief Executive

As soon as this matter was brought to our attention, we have done everything possible to press the FAW to protect our agreed allocation of tickets. However they have confirmed that it is not possible to provide The FA with the tickets previously allocated in blocks N1 and UN1.

We did receive a large ticket allocation for this match, in excess of 10% of the stadium’s capacity. This initial allocation has been protected. However the FAW have confirmed to us that their error relates to an additional allocation which was agreed with The FA subsequently (those tickets being in blocks N1 and UN1) and sold through englandfans in the third sale period on 4 February 2011.

    Members who purchased tickets in the following blocks are unaffected: L33, L34, L35,L36, L37, L38, LD36, LD37, U33, UD33, U34, U35, U36, U37, U38, M33, M34, M35, M36, M37, M38, MD33.

We have written to the 951 members who will receive a refund for their cancelled tickets, clearly this situation is extremely disappointing and we are sorry that these members will not be able to attend.

The final englandfans allocation for this match now stands at 8100 tickets, we expect to receive these tickets from the FAW next week and will begin the despatch process shortly after this time.

yep - i'm one of the illustrious 951! absolutely gutted!

disappointed that the FA hasn't done any more for us either - i appreciate that the ticket is no longer available, but there's no goodwill to us for the next fixture or anything - they've just told us we're getting our money back (Cheers for that!)

I saw that. Lucky I'm alright. Surely people have paid for train tickets and hotels etc.

      Stinks!

I hope no one on our coach is affected!

We were booking our train tickets this weekend, so small mercies and all that...

guess that just means an extra £75 towards an all day session in the pub instead, which is scant consolation to be honest!

So I've booked and paid for:-

            Train return
5* Hotel (in Cardiv - are you sure?!?!?! )
Paid out to get on VIP guest list in a local "club"
Booked two days off work due to my shifts
Borrowed money for all the above.

And all I get is...... sorry boyo!

Luckily for me the above is a totally made up scenario but could well have been the case.

An absolute trucking disgrace and someone needs to be throw to us travelling lions for this.

Another reason to ensure the welsh dont get in prem
