  • Change of centre backs this Saturday..

Sounds like it according to Warnock.

Could be anyone's guess unless he's playing mind games.
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

I think you may have read it wrong. NW said he is pleased we had a weeks break as the CBs needed a rest. I don't think it means he will drop either of them Saturday.

Of course I could be wrong, but managers don't normally hint at those things days before the game. He's just pleased we had no midweek game.

As much as you would like them split up despite 2 clean sheet, no way will this happen.

I expect him to start with Hogan to track Andy King who is a danger.

No other changes, Warnock rarely makes changes unless forced to.

He said Pompey were the best XI in the league, Burnley the telling game away, Forest the form side blah blah,

Mind games at their finest by sir Neil.

One size's groin / hamstring is due so I'd expect Matt Connelly to come in around the 63rd minute

Where did I say I want to break them up??

I have always been an advocate of never change a winning side.

Hence why I was miffed in the first place that MC and KG were dropped despite being the best in the land.

But 2 clean sheets in 2 you can't argue with. FH and DS are very similar. MC far more composed on the ball than any of them.

Jeffro on current form Fitz hall deserves his place over matt connolly. He will have to wait for his chance and impress. At last we have 4 centre backs pusing for 2 places, its healthy competition and there were definate signs of gorrks and connors just going through the motions. Shittu is our best centre back as he is the most complete defender.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

100% agree Weare, I was calling for Shittu about 5/6 games ago, Neil was very shrewd with his control of the matter.

He will keep it the same for Saturday but expect 1 change for Millwall maybe more for Palace, he won't want his old lot getting one over us.

Certainly not our most complete defender.

                          Shittu is

                          1. Good in the air

                          2. Strong

                          3. Pace

                          He is not intelligent.
He does not read the game.
                          He can't pick a pass.
He is not composed on the ball.

All the defenders have strengths and weakenesses. But Shittu is certainly NOT a complete defender.

See we have a good mix of CB's at club as Connolly:

                            Good on ball
                            Reads game ok

                            But is:

                            Very weak
                            Not good in air
                            No pace

                            Gorrks:

                            Good header of ball
                            Brave

                            Very slow
Biggest long ball merchant at the club

                            They compliment each other.

Think MC wins a lot in the air and is certainly our most comfortable defender with a ball at his feet. Reads the game very well. So important in this day and age. That's why Hall and Shittu failed in the Premiership. Think MC will do well in the Prem. Have so much time on the ball. KG is just a solid defender at this level. Will have his moments, but generally very good. Shittu is very similar to Stewart in that he can be Bobby Moore one minute and Zesh Rehman the next. His size and strength help him rectify his flaws during games. Hall, I just don't rate. Terrible record with injuries and certainly won't help us if we go up.
