My stepson mentioned something to me last night about the idiot.
He said that he now said some stupid things about Brighton. Apparently, Gus Poyet responded that he was talking " a word beginning with B and ending in S, - but I don't wish to say the word".
He also said that if he knew so much, he should be managing someone rather than talkin nonsense.
I actually complained to the BBC about him a while back. Got this response:
Thanks for contacting us regarding BBC One’s ‘The Football League Show’ and in particular Steve Claridge.
I understand that you are unhappy with Steve’s presentation skills and that you find him to be inarticulate.
Steve Claridge is employed as an ex-professional player with considerable experience at all levels of the game and indeed football itself is a game that generates varied opinions All our contributors are appointed on the basis of their experience and talent, but judgements are often subjective and we would never expect everyone to agree with every choice we make. We don't engage any presenter or interviewer unless we believe they're competent and can meet the specific demands required of them.
The range of tastes and opinions held by our audience is so diverse that it's inevitable some viewers will dislike or disapprove of certain presenters. It's a very rare TV personality who meets with everyone's approval, and it's clear that opinions on individual presenters can vary considerably.
That said I appreciate that you feel strongly about this and so with this in mind I’d like to assure you that I’ve registered your comments on our audience log. This is the internal report of audience feedback which we compile daily for all programme makers and commissioning executives within the BBC, and also their senior management. It ensures that your points, and all other comments we receive are circulated and considered across the BBC.
Seriously cannot believe that he is still employed. Shocking pundit.
