  • Helguson V Furlong

Helguson has been brilliant for us this year!! I actually prefer him up-front to Hulse!!

HH has offered so much for us this year and Is finally scoring goals for us when we most need them!!

Ok he does miss a few sitters now and then, probably should of had two against Ipswich! But he works hard and gives it 110%!!

I just wonder, it took Furs a season or so to find his feet with us!!

Can HH be our new Furlong!!

with 13 games to go, providing he stays fit, I think HH can score another 6 goals!! which in all fairness, I dont think anyone thought he would!!

Not only that be he offers so much In build up play!!

I think hes been top class this year and deserves a mention!!

If we were to go up and continue playing the current system we'd need Helguson to do more. Does he have the ability to hold up the ball and score goals against better defences? At this level I think he is very good but if we were in the Premiership?

I like what he brings to the team and has a better understanding of Taraabt's game than anyone else.

I think in a way, maybe the comparison was slightly over the top, Because Furlong really was class for us!!

Although, I genuinely think Helguson will still score every now and then and still hold up and use the ball as well as he does now!!

HH is vital to our team!

HH is our best striker.. not that impressed with miller. dont think he can cut being the lone striker and definitely cant hack it as a wide man

I think Miller has been a great asset to use over the last few weeks! strong and fast!!

Coming back from injury is always hard!!

              hi lads new member here.
would take furlong & 100% man never gave up, helguson at start of season i wanted to get rid of as he seemed uniterested in us last season all for watford, but has proved me wrong his attitude has been good, ok he does miss his fair share but for his height very good in the air & is best of the bunch at present, if he keeps fit we should be ok.

Furlong miles better and perfect for that lone front mans role.
Title of the thread is misleading as you have not asked us to choose between the 2 but we all have anyway!!

                  Welcome Jeff.

Agree his attitude has changed somewhat and after seeing Hulse's attempt no wonder people are happy to have HH back in the team. We play a lot less hoof ball when HH is in the team.

Slightly unfair comparison as Furlong played a lot of his best football for us in the third tier which is going to flatter his stats. Furlong did really well for us but there is a tendency among the fan base to look back on that period with rose tinted spectacles so we apparently played before huge gates, Ainsworth was a legend, etc etc. Not sure a 35-year-old Furlong or whatever he was back then would get too near our team now.

Furlong played most of his football for us in the Third tier so I think its an unfair comparison. Furs did have a respectable season in the Championship in our first season, but performances declined since then. Helguson appears to be getting better.
