  • helguson's scoring record

Its reported that he has scored 10 goals this season (assume one might be for Iceland as think he has nine for us?) so was wondering what his goal scoring ratio is this season - doesn't seem to say on the qpr.co.uk.

I know he misses a fair few chances and no one is claiming he is the new Clive Allen in terms of clinical finishing but given the number of games he has played it must be quite a decent record.

Lets hope he stays fit and gets a real scoring run going. With Tabs not quite on song and Smith out we badly need the goals from Helguson to keep coming.

Yes If he stays fit, I think he will keep banging goals.

i like HH and hulse.. if both are given support they will do well for us.

i do feel however if hulse missed the sitter helguson missed then this forum would be all over hulse.

i think helguson is a great player, just sometimes needs to compose himself before rushing some passes. If he keeps working hard an hittign the net, il be happy

I find myself saying this every week, he is our best striker (including miller). The flick on for Taarabts first goal first swansea proves how good in the air he is, he got that header bang on in the right place. He is much better than miller.

8 for us and 2 for Iceland (versus Norway and Portugal)

1614 minutes for us (a goal every 202 minutes)

nearly a goal every 2 games, not bad at all.

Although someone no doubt will say but 4 of them were penalities etc etc.

You still have to score them unlike Cole and Anelka the other day.

We need someone to stick the penalties away. To be honest I dont trust taarabt taking penalties, i always think he's going to chip it or mess about with it and try and take the p*ss. Helgusons hold up play is the best we have aswell, and he is the best in the air (even though he is 3 inches smaller than miller)

Agree. We play far more attractive football when he's in the side as well.

Many thanks Sir Pie, I thought you would be the one to come up with the stats but I didn't like to request them from you by name as I do recognise its not your job to permanently ferret figures out for the rest of us...

Re the penalties I think at least two he "earned" himself by being tripped. Also didn't Tabs take one that was induced by Helguson? Anyway, its still a lot better than one goal in 16 which is the record of Rob "I feel really settled" Hulse (to which the obvious rejoinder is "don't feel too settled, son...").

Fair play to you GTP for admitting as much. If he could get to 15 this season it could be what gets us over the line.

Always rated HH. Like all strikers he's been through a bad patch but he also knows where the net and is more than capable. It's only of late that people have started paying attention to his all round game play which is generally very good. Something which gets overshadowed when he misses a sitter!

it was never his capabilities i doubted, i just thought his heart never seemed in it when playing for us. but like i said, hes shut me right up this season.
