  • Our Squad and Taarabt

    I just had a little read of the thread with about sporting Lisbon and Adel. Now we all know that his attitude is not the best that we have ever seen however have we seen a player at QPR with more skill?? The answer is no!! I watched the Morocco vs Niger match and Tarbs was awesome playing, passing, doing his thing and he actually looked like he was enjoying himself. I mean i know this was against Niger but still. Now im not knocking the current squad because i think that we are doing amazingly well however the current squad needs more quality in it as we all know. Taarabt is under a huge amount of pressure every game to produce the goods infact hes the only player under that pressure in our entire squad!! This is the problem you look at the teams in the prem and every squad has at least 2 or 3 players that are under pressure to perform week in week out. We are all quick to say lets flog him he cant and wont cut it in the prem but dont people think that if he was to say look up and see a Tevez or a Berbatov or a Van Persie to pass to he would be more inclined to. Hes never going to be a defensive player but when he played for Morroco he tracked back there was no throwing arms up in the air when he lost the ball. You look around the squad and lets be honest theres only Routledge that you would bet on to score in a one on one.

    I would love to see us buy a few good players which im sure we will if we do go up and then for Adel to stay for at least a season to show the prem what hes capable of.

      think he'll be gone come the summer whether we go up or not.
      Cant see it being a top club tho as he's not as good as he thinks he is in his head (especially if theyve seen the last few games he's played for us )
      Gonna have to spend some money if we do go up to replace the lad but what money will be able to replace the loss of so influential a Captain

          Can I chip my two penneth in on Adel here?

          I've always backed and rated this lad, be he bamboozling defenders and slamming in 20 yarders or throwing his arms up in the air.

          I can just see him becomig more and more the complete player as every week goes by.
          When he was first with us he'd never pass. Ever.
          He'd never track back.
          Wouldn't close down.
          Rarely on the pitch for 90mins.
          Heading? Nope!
          Petulance? In bucket loads!

          Now watch him in most home games.
          Last night he was closing the keeper down whenever he'd rotated into the front man position. He made a great tracking run mid-way through 2ND half to prod the ball back to Paddy to clear after breaking up the attack.
          He'll challenge for headers from time to time (not always at mo). He constantly runs and offers the ball to his feet from defence when he can and so on and on and on.

          Still plenty to work on such as not taking EVERY free-kick, corner etc. His biggest demon to conquer at the moment is doing it away from home but I have a sneaky feeling from mid-March onwards, we'll see Adel with the sun on his back and the ball at his feet running games away from home as well.

          At this juncture I say - thank You Adel and Thank You Neil Warnock - continue this development and one of the worlds great footballing superstars could be in place in two years time.

          To answer the OP --- Adel has players around him that do suit him at the moment. The stage is his. I do agree though that if we could add a Rio Ferdinand type CB, a Fabregas type CM and a Tevez type CF then Adel would be even better..........but then so would any player in our squad!!

          IN WARNOCK WE TRUST
          I need some time in the sunshine, I gotta slow it right down.

              I have noticed something since the arrival of Routledge, now i am not saying we shouldn't have got him back but although he has been good i feel it has affected our and to be exact (Adels) play, ok i know Adel may get injured at any time or may go in the summer so we have to have a back up plan but has anyone else noticed that other teams are finding it easier to contain Adel. Imo this is because with Routledge taking up a place on a wing Adel is now restricted to the other or centre which gives the opposition more of an idea where and what he is going to do.
              I much preferred Adel in his free role straight across the park switching between wings and also cutting inside, has anyone else noticed this or am i the only one?

                Agreed. If we do go up I'd like to think we could keep him until the January transfer window at least.

                  Agree LBLOCK. A lot come the summer (if we've won promotion) will be to do with how big the budget is. Get better players in and AT will flourish. Don't and he'll try to do it all on his own.

                    just watched qpr highlights, he got again involved in both goals!
                    1st :corner : taarabt -->Hill :goal !
                    2nd: buzz-->Taarabt(eliminates 2 players and pass)-->faurlin-->hill--->helg:goal !

                    the second was well created ! many passes!
                    and just minutes before the second goal, it was a great play between faurlin and taarabt to routs who missed by 2 inches!

                    bring on BORO!

                      i think if we get an offer of 5/6 million or more warnock will let him go & there's probably a clause in his contract anyway stating that.

                        I have to start every reply on the subject of Adel with the line: Don't get me wrong, I love the bloke.
                        And I do. He's been fantastic.

                        But(!)... the bit I've highlighted in bold text is the thing that worries me.
                        He needs to adapt his game away from home. Hopefully that will develop, rather than him just getting frustrated, again and again.

                          So true. If he struggles at places like Turf Moor, Keepmoat, Deepdale etc hows he going to cope at Anfield, WHL, Emirates, OT, SB, Eastlands? Even if he can raise his game against the bigger teams I can see him struggling against the likes of Birmingham and Stoke - teams which will target him.

                            It has to be also due to the tactics used by NW for away games. we cant know everything what happening behind the curtons.
