  • Paddy back with all the Paddy's...

Paddy Kenny is in line for a shock recall for the Republic of Ireland when they play Macedonia in a Euro 2012 qualifying tie next month.

Shay Given will miss the game after the Manchester City goalkeeper sustained a shoulder injury.

Kenny, 32, made him, self ‘unavailable for selection’ in 2007 after winning seven caps to enable him to sort out personal problems.

Manager Giovanni Trapattoni’s other options are Keiren Westwood of Coventry and Scunthorpe’s Joe Murphy.

But Westwood’s form for Coventry has dipped this season while Murphy is involved in a battle to help Scunthorpe avoid relegation to League One.

In contrast Kenny has kept 17 clean sheets as Rangers push for promotion to the Premier League.

He has responded to being re-united with Warnock, his former Sheffield United manager, and with his personal problems, including a nine-month ban for taking a banned substance, behind him Kenny would welcome a return to the international stage.

Good luck to him but I hope they don't send him back in the same state as Martin Rowlands...

At the moment this is only speculation. Kenny has never been in a squad under Trappattoni.

Great news. Also just seen Given is out for 3 months with a shoulder injury so Paddy might get his chance sooner than he thought.

Paddy Kenny is better then Shay Given anyway.
                    Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                    And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO
