  • Is Taarabt the problem?

Warnock has decided he wants to build his team around Taarabt and you could argue, particularly at home, that to date it has worked with us sitting 5 points clear at the top. However, our recent series of draws, particularly away from home are almost certainly down to the way Warnock sets out his team and that is all to do with Taarabt.

Take yesterday for example, Preston equaliser came from a weak challenge from Routledge on half way, with Taarabt standing a couple of yards away making no effort what so ever to close the play down. We all know he does not tackle, but he did not even make the effort to move 5 yards to close down the space their player ran into. We have all seen him simply throw up his hands and wander around for a few minutes in almost every match this season. The fact is he is simply a passenger when we do not have the ball, hence the need to set up the other 10 to cover for him. If you look at our shape, we sit fairly deep as a back four with both Derry and Faulin sitting in front with the two wide players basically drop into a four when we do not have the ball. Consequently when we win it we are very deep and cannot get players up to support the lone striker quickly enough. Secondly, many moan about the long ball from Kenny, but he often cannot pass it out short because we are so deep, and would be inviting pressure upon us, with a good chance we could loose the ball within 30 yards of our goal.

We all know Taarabt has unbelievable skill, can and has changed a game in a second, but why then do you think nobody else wanted to a chance on him. Warnock is not stupid he will have looked at this at the start of the season and believed he gives more than he takes away. However, he might, particularly away from home being thinking of reassessing the situation, as we simply do not put teams under enough pressure.

For what its worth I think he should leave it as it is, we are top because to date he has given a lot to the team and when he hasn’t the team have been able to grind out results. However, we cant have it both ways and the only way for Taarabt to be in the team is to continue to play the way some of you clearly get frustrated with !

Without Taarabt, we wouldnt be anywhere near the position we are. The problem is we have no plan b.

No way. He makes us tick.

According to reports yesterday if he hadn't of tried a few things himself we would of been even worse than we were.

The problem is up front, but also when players like Wayne Routledge have 2 touches 2nd half as was reported your always going to struggle.

Pressure and reliance on Taarabt reduces If Smith is there.

The problem is not Taarabt but the failure to sign decent strikers. Therefore Adel has to shoulder the workload as he is the only one who looks like scoring regularly at the moment.

Going forward Taarbt is fantastic, but too many times he takes the wrong option, I suppose the finger of blame is being pointed toward him more and more as we get closer to the end and are failing to grind out wins, i wonder if this has crossed Warnocks mind, would we benefit from benching Taarbt...maybe using him as an impact sub as a sort of expierment???

tbh i dont think taarabts the problem as of late..

the problem lately has been scoring goals.

i believe our tactics are what sometimes hinder us.

against forest especially.. down to 10men and we didnt go 4-4-2 play wide and really have ago.

i do feel chimbonda needs to come in for orr now. he has the premiership quality we need defending and going forward. questions over gorkks are arising.. so maybe give shittu a go?

our long ball tactic is what is doing us in... we play it on the deck, get it wide we will score more. hope NW realises that and we play and create more.

I don't agree, bringing someone like Taarbt off the bench with 20 mins to go could work, for one, he'l be facing a tired team... he'l also boost the morale of the players and fans... generate some noise... like it wouldnt work all the time, but maybe against the supposed weaker teams we might try it...

He was yesterday, at times he seemed disinterested and was determined to shoot on sight when better options were available to him. But it wasn't only down to him, we didn't play well as a team yesterday, Orr, Connolly and Gorkks were not solid enough against a very poor Preston attack. We may have the best defensive record in the league, but this is due in no small amount to Derry and Faurlin protecting the back four. I think that is the reason why Warnock plays with two holding midfielders. If we played a standard 4-4-2 we would have conceded many more goals than we have.

The call for a striker who scores goals go on, but there are only certain strikers who can play the lone role and score the 20 goals a season we all want. Unfortunately, firstly they would cost in excess of 15 million and secondly they would not sign for a Championship side.

The way we play dictates our strikers, the ones we have are ok in our system and that system is there because of Taarabt, you cannot have one with out the other.

Intelligent posts in this thread. He certainly isn't the problem. But when he disappears in away games you should begin to question and look to a plan B. He had a poor game and a hissy again yesterday. Not good enough. But not his fault we are failing to win games (though he made Preston's job a lot easier yesterday I have to say).

Problem is, as noted above, there is no plan B and the team is set out so much to accommodate him that it is difficult to shift gear. I really hope Buz gets fit quick as he may be the boy to help us over the line. It aint Hulse or Miller.

how dare some fans can be! just for one draw away now you wanna bench the best player in the whole league not only at QPR! some fans really dnt deserve player like him. you easily forgot how many games he won us ! if you say something like these on ADEL what else you gonna say of the other static pathetic players? are you gonna bench them too? do you think without taarabt we would be even discussing here this pathetic shameful disrespectful thread on our best player.
some fans here I think they just want to make troubles to the team instead of standing by the players n this crucial time. I doubt even if they are QPR fans. maybe some rivals fans register here just to make us troubles.

we fking dnt have STRIKERS to put it in, have you seen the millions passes the same ADEL put them through and they strangely missed ? the board doesnt want to spend the money , they just want to gain money and promote on the back of ADEL. you should be blind to not see this.
