  • Our Shaun Derry

If Charlie Adam is worth 10m, surely Derry is close to 9m?

In possession, how many times does he lose it? Very rarely. He plays the simple ball, long or short, spreads the play well, always supports. When defending, he is disciplined, closes down quick, tackles hard (sometimes too hard, but that gives him a reputation that causes opponents to panic when he comes near, losing possession), keeps his position well, and most impotantly, plays every game like its a cup final. A really top pro.

But it's more than that. I think he is a huge stabalising influence on his team-mates. Because he gives everything, it rubs off on the others, and maybe stops them being nervous of our current lofty position.

It's now time to give him the captains armband proper I think

has been a great signing for us and seems to be a very level headed, calming influence on others around him but is a different type of player than charlie adam.

Derry has done well, but to compare him to Adam is wrong imo. I doubt very much he would do a job in the prem, I cant be bothered to name the attacking midfielders in the prem who would skool him. Not knocking the guy as he has been brilliant for us, but he is definetley no Xabi Alonso.

Derrys a calming influence in midfield, wins the ball and lays it off to our creative players. He's experienced, always talks to the ref during the game telling him to watch out for dirty tackles on Adel and I've seen him give Tarbs a few dressing downs this season already. Been one of the players of the season but hes a completely different player and Adam is levels above him.

We'd struggle to get £500k for him if he was to be sold.

But I love him. Top player for us this year.

He's worth more to the team than any price we could realistically get for him.

Yeah OK, I'm stretching it a tad. Both Adam & Derry are both central midfielders, and granted one is more attacking than the other, but they both knit the team together in similar ways, sort of central support.

As far as consistancy, he has been my POTY. Even though Adel has has 4 or 5 excellent games, he has had more very average ones, and a few poor ones. As far as team ethic is concerned, they are opposite ends of the scale. So if Adel is worth 10mill, Derry must be 8.9mill ??

u can't put a value on his he is such an important player 4 us. The price wouldn't be much because of his age but runs Tarbs close for poty
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!
