Harrow Borough produced a brilliant comeback from 2-0 down to win 5-2 at second-placed Bury Town on Tuesday night.
The Reds continued their superb season in the Ryman Premier as they closed to within two points of the play-offs.
A hat-trick from the exceptional Troy Hewitt, who is being chased by QPR, fired them to victory and will only increase the number of clubs interested in signing the striker.
Boro manager David Howell said: “It was one of the best second-half performances of the season. We were 2-1 down at half time and lucky to still be in the game.
“But we went into the changing room at half time and had a heart to heart. The lads were confident and I was always confident we could produce.
“At one point we could have been 4-1 down but when we started playing in the second half they couldn’t cope with us.
“Troy got his hat-trick which he deserved. It was an electrifying performance from him. He just showed what he could do. He has had to deal with with all the people ringing him up. For him to remain focused is all credit to him.”
Howell, who was preparing to talk to QPR yesterday about Hewitt, who has 12 league goals, added: “I just said to him that will take care of itself and to keep doing what he’s doing. That is the best way to deal with the situation.”
Boro host Horsham on Saturday and they will be full of confidence after hammering them 7-1 last month.
But Howell has warned his side not to be complacent against a side that will be desperate to exact revenge.
He said: “It will be another test for the players because Horsham have a lot of pride and they will be looking for revenge.
“You don’t normally play a side on the back of a big defeat in the space of just a couple of weeks.
“The only thing we can do is get ready for Horsham. If we do things correctly then we will be heading in the right direction. But if we don’t do it properly then all the talk of the play-offs will just be hot air.”
