  • When we get promoted...

Who currently do you think would do a job in the premiership??

I would as starters only play in my 1st XI:

    Paddy Kenny
    Faurlin
    Adel
    Tommy Smith
    Routledge
    Derry

The like of Connoly, Gorkks, Orr, Hill, Ephraim, Hulse, Simply wont cut it in the top league.
And before you all start chuckinmg "Ian Evatt and Keith bloody Southern at me", Blackpool are in freefall and i fully expect them to go down now, proving they werent good enough.

We would need 5 NEW premiership quality players to survive next season.

The rest are not bad squad players, but im talking about a starting XI here , being able to jold their own against the big boys.

if connolly plays like he did on friday then he could cut it. same goes for faurlin. derry i feel is just gonna be too old and slow for prem. id like mark noble for a replacement.

routledge has proved he cant cut it at prem with multiple clubs.

i think mackie as a winger could do a job, as long as expectation of goals isnt laid on his shoulders.

    Lovejoy: "No?!"

got to agree Jeffro but sadly think Derry would be found wanting, 4-5 quality recruits just to be mid table IMHO, as for counting ones chickens need to be searching now
I must away now, I can no longer tarry

the whole first team could do a job in the prem imho. squad players some of them obviously, but they could all perform if required too. (except hulse and hh if anyone classes them still as first team)

oh and jeffro, bet your glad i didnt take them 500 quid bets of you and all the others who jumped in when i said 'i dont think heider will score again for us this season' a couple of months back eh me old mucker?

I can't believe you feel Derry will do a similar job in the Prem, whilst writing off a young and improving Matt Connolly.

Doesn't make, sense whatsoever to me?!

Not having a dig at all, Jeffro, but do you honestly think Derry will be up to the pace? Harsh as it may be, he's not the type of player I expect to see featuring regular in a team looking to stablise in the Prem. I'd rather see O'Hara or even Mullins in there.

I think MC will do a job. Stick him alongside a composed, pacey CB, and he'll do the rest.

              I agree other than that.

Disagree with these 3 points and agree with Jeffro personally.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Connolly will be fine in the Prem for sure. If Wheater goes to Bolton, he could definitely do it.

Great though Derry has been for us this season I too would be worried if he were first choice next season. O'Hara or Watson for me.

I wouldn't dismiss Gorks out of hand though ideally we would get a real rock of an experienced centre half with years of Premiership experience, like we did all those years ago with Frank Mclintock.

It'd be boring if we always agreed.

It's a good job I know I'm right, otherwise I'd be disappointed with myself.

Benny, I think Derry will do the Captains role... I think Faurlin will blossom alongside him. Listen Im not saying he should play every game, but certainly would start him until he looks like he is struggling.

As for Connolly, I know we have kept 15 clean sheets but in my opinion this has been down a large part to Paddy Kenny and his wonder saves and Derry protecting back 4 and breaking play up.
MC and KG have been good, but they constantly let the ball bounce and let little sh1tes like shane long bussle them and we concede possession in dangerous places. Both are prone to an error too.

I wouldnt say Connolly is any better than when we signed him either Benny. He came with the "promising talent" tag back then, and I ve yet to be convinced. He cant be potential forever.

                          just my opinion.

Point 1, I agree with in priciple, but I just can't see him cutting it. He'll be too off the pace to play CM against the type of midfielders he'll meet in the Prem. It's unfortunate, as he's done a fantastic job this season, but I think he'll be found out at the next level. It's with a heavy heart, I assure you, but there is no room for sentiment.

Point 2, I also agree with. Paddy has played a HUGE part in our success in general, but a 'keeper gains confidence in his back four, just as much as they do in him. I reckon, if you were to ask Paddy, he'd give a high appraisal for MC. Of course, I cannot prove this, Jeffro, but I see a great communication between them. You don't see them argueing much, in fairness, which says a lot for me.

Point 3, I disagree with. Yes - He came with potential, but since then, he's been used all over the shop, and he's done a good job wherever he's been asked to play. He shows a great ability to be utilised, and even when he was (IMO) incorrectly left out of the starting line-up, he just kept training hard until he was rightly given his chance. Something that I feel he's done very well.

Like you, these are just my opinions.
