  • Taarabt/Routledge - not a criticism, just a thought.

Just one thing regarding the Routledge/Taarabt partnership at the moment and that seems to be Taarabt used to do a lot of damage down both the left and right having a free role where it has looked as though he is now being restricted to the left with Routledge covering the right side.

There were a few times on Tues against Pompey where Adel would have picked up the ball and had a go at some trickery, but although Wayne is a good player we have now lost that option.
Look at the goal against Cardiff for example from the right, i don't think Wayne would have done that and there are probably others.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

Not a criticism just a thought.

they could just switch the wings often.. not a problem really if they cooperate.

They used to switch wings when both were here before.
Difference on Tuesday was Wayne was moved up front & more central to try to get onto Miller's headed flick ons.
Didn't work as it happened, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them swap i. Future.

And I think Wayne 'could' have scored that winner v Taffs, not 'would' but 'could' !

        1) The three - Taarabt, Routledge, Ephraim - did switch about against Portsmouth.
        2) Taarabt scored from the right side of the pitch

Must admit he looked a little isolated on Tuesday & didn't seem to 'roam' as much as we're used to. I wouldn't say NW has told him to hug the touchline as obviously we would lose a lot of Adel's attacking prowess in the process but maybe he's told him to just be a little more disciplined and to strike when the opportunity arises.

I can live with that. With Routs in the team it's double trouble for the oppo.
