  • Atmosphere tonight.....!

Tuesday night under floodlights, top of the league, fairly decent crowd against a (formerly) big team with pretty decent following, everything should be set up for a loud lively atmosphere. But what happened....?

Not a single song or chant of any note until about 40 minutes. Alright the football was terrible at times but sometimes the team needs the crowd to get them going and I thought we were really poor and quiet.

LR can be a proper fotress when everyone get's behind them, but tonight and other recent games its been like a morgue.

I was sat in A block of SAF right next to the Pompey fans (who sang for much of the match) and the lack of atmosphere was was emmbarrassing at times.

Also noted we have about 3 songs, Tarrabts to good for u, we're top of the league and that stupid hoops song when we score.

Need to sort out some decent songs about players.

    Good win though

Problem is the fans are split all over the ground,P,Q and R block,X block.A block and F block in SAR.

As Pompey showed tonight around 1000 fans behind the goal can create a lot of noise.

Answer ??? probably move the family stand to ER and for stewards to be less confrontational when people stand up, watch the premier league games, every fan stands behind the goal.

Complain about no atmosphere. Imply that you don't want certain songs to be sang. Does not compute.

First half was utterly dire I wanted to run a hot bath and end it all. Atmosphere at Loftus is disctinctly mediocre 9 times out of 10. Fact. We can turn it on for the big games though eg Cardiff and Millwall

People are on edge....admit the atmosphere is often pony at home but it will rock as we get closer-on its day (ie oldham) we are better than none. As long as we keep on winning at home who cares. We were always better away as are most.

Stewards at rangers are 2bob...do fc uk all with away fans(sithe it against wall)...needs to be looked at-chelsea,utd,etc will be lively games next season if we get there. Must be the only home fans under so much pressure. Love to see the ##### stop us if we do get promotion-leeds will be a riot....and i predict it!!

No songs for Warnock and Kenny? Maybe Rangers fans need more to drink. I'm not at LR, too far away, but it's probably nerves, Rangers haven't had a season like this for a long time, quite frankly the fans might not be used to it, same thing happened at the Highbury library.

I think that's a very large part of it.

I'm still waiting for it to all go #### up... all very odd.
It's what we've been tuned into for the last 16 years.

Embarrassing to say the least. I hate watching the highlights of us winning at home, because even if it's a last minute winner, the celebrations (if you can call it that) at the loft end is a joke.

When watching Match of the Day, I always notice when Everton play at Goodison, the stand behind the goal on the right, go absolutely berserk when they score. We should be celebrating like that, especially with the position we're in.

loft end died a while ago - other parts of the groud are fine, but like last night it is a bit sporadic....not as dead as people make out though. Just Patchy.

I thought it was pretty noisy in r block last night...in fact from there I couldn't hear the pompey that much.

I thought atmos was good. Was in R block and couldn't hear the Pompy fans much. Were you at a differnt game? Only a few chants?? What about Shittu song and loud "pride of west london".

to be fair it would of been hard to get an atmosphere anywhere in the world with that first half.

There was some chanting in the 1st 40 mins around Q block, so a little harsh.
Top of The League, We're the Q/P/R block, and anti Chelsea and Lawrence were all sung quite vociferously.
Personally, I wish we'd concentrate more on getting behind OUR team than big upping the oppo's main men.
Lawrence yesterday looked up at the crowd when taking a corner with a massive smile on his face. He knew, he'd got to us, I was expecting him to do a Cole, Lita or King, but thankfully he didn't.

Yep, 1st half performance was poor, Pompey had the lions share of it - but surely all the more reason for the fans to get behind the team ?

Finally, anyone think the crowd size & atmosphere in general would be far improved if we played a few more home games on a Saturday around 3 o' clock ? I do, damn you Sky.

Fair play to Portsmouth though, a decent sized crowd for their current position and they sung long and loud.
