  • If Opposing Managers Man Mark or Crowd Taarabt, Do We Have A Problem?

Early part of the season, Tarbs is magical, he hits the headlines for the right reasons and managers do a bit more homework on him and then goes missing for a few, with opposing teams man marking him or sticking 2-3 players on him, he sulks, head goes down, simply ineffective and invisble on the pitch.

Those high performances return after a period of time, with opposing teams tactics less highlighted on marking him out of the game. His form returns and he is showing why he is best player in this division with some vintage performances which are highlighted in the TV and media.

A week ago I saw Mackay the Watford manager say if you stop Taarabt you stop QPR playing and if you crowd him out, man mark him than he will just get frustrated and wave his arms up and down. His immaturity shows and he simply loses interest

If managers deploy the tactic of frustrating Taarabt for the rest of the season and its entirely possible they will do that, then in your opinion can we still get automatically promoted?

No-one player is more important than the team and I might just consider dropping him for one game after this transfer window just to give the team some confidence without him. Something that of course could back-fire, but I felt against Hull it was simply the Tarrabt show, with players feeling pressured to pass to him and making up with him at half-time, when it was Tarbts fault in the first place !!

agree to a certain extent but dropping him wouldnt just relieve him of the captaincy, but i believe he will be man marked for the rest of the season he's got to find away around that and not have a strop everytime he cant get the ball.

This should though leave space for our other players to exceed Smith, Miller and Routledge
      Games until premiership end:35
      current position:12th

        Your like a broken record.

To answer the question no we don't have problem if our other creative players step up to the plate. You can man mark Taarabt or put 2/3 players on him but we should be trying to utilise the space and stretch the opposition and keep the ball out of crowded areas.

Taarabt is no captain, he is simply wearing the armband to decide what end we shoot and call the toss.

What you must remember is that teams will need to win against us as the season reaches its conclusion. How many can afford to put 2/3 players on Tarbs and still be good enough to get a result against us? Not many I suspect. Warnock is wise enough to change things with Adel if needed. Don't drop him. Would you have dropped Marsh, Bowles, Wegerle, Ferdinand? I doubt it.
22nd February away v Charlton is the 40th Anniversary of my support of QPR and my first game. Away v Chelsea 3-3 23rd Feb 1974. 40 years of pure magic!!

Other teams this season have put 2 to 3 people on him. Swansea and Coventry to speak and he still ran the game, what we need to accept is that like everyone else his form is going to go up and down in the season like everyone else. This differance here is that as he dosnt track back and tackle he has no other way of releasing his frustration, so he boils up and over flows in other ways.

Sotonsuperhoop is right, when Bolwes, Ferdinand and Marsh had dips in form you never dropped them as you know in 3 or 4 games they would be back firing.

He will win us more points even playing poorly than lose us. Yes you can say he lost us 2 points yesterday, but then he got us 3 points against coventry, he didnt play very well in that game apart 2 pieces of magic.

What we need to work on is how to exploit the space that he creates when they put 2 / 3 people on him as that is what we dont capitlise on, but with HH, Hulse they are not quick and do not posses the skill and intelligance to do this. Hopefuly with Routlege and Miller with their pace, power and experinace we can.

Dropping Adel will only take away our biggest weapon wether its creating space for others or just doing what he good at and that being amazing and doing things we can only dream about.

If all of our offensive play is going through Taarabt and he has 2 or 3 players on him then yes of course we need alternative strategies to combat that, especially as it would open up more space. Warnock is canny enough to know this, as would be a lot of other managers to then counteract it with just a single marker, or even none at all and switch to zonal marking. Its a fluid game that can change several times over 90 mins.

Whichever way teams try to cope with him the bottom line is that with a talent like Taraabt more often than not he'll find a way through defences with either a goal or an assist, especially at this level.

When that happens, The Solution will be called Buzsaky. He is nearing a 1st team place. Teams cannot cope with 2 genius type players.

Buzz hasn't shown his 'genius' since the DeCanio days, but I take your point.

I'm not sure there is space in the midfield for Buzz and Tarbs, who would you drop? We need some defensive midfield strength on show

How do work that out when Buzsaky was last fit he was on the bench. He is no where near a first time place what a ridiculous statement to make.

                          * There is only one genius at QPR as well and he wears No. 7 *

Exactly - we need to exploit this.If they are putting one maybe two players on Adel....and teams will do this, somewhere on the pitch, there should be a hooped shirt in open space. But im sure Neil is aware of this ...

I've always wanted to see Buzz play for front, or just behind a main striker.

He's got an eye for goal.....
