  • Will Holloway resign?

Will he stand by his word that he would resign if Blackpool got in trouble for fielding a weak side back against Aston Villa?

They have just been fined 25k.

I doubt it. Most of what ollie says is in the heat of the moment and is based on emotion. In the cold light of day it would be very silly!

It is a joke though. Managers should be entitled to pick whatever team they want.

Then there will be a battle between club and Premier league.

They actually played well in that game and were very unlucky

What's the point of having a 25 man squad if your not allowed to use it.

The fa are joke would they of fined them if they had won at villa of course they wouldn't of.

That's why Holloway won't resign. He won't change anything if he does.

I've not been following this but its got me thinking these problems are best tackled at the source not after the damage has been done. If the FA grew some balls some years ago and started fining the likes off Ferguson and Wenger everytime they fielded a weakend side in a cup competition this situation would never have come about. The FA let greed take over the game and as a result managers of smaller teams do what they have to do to survive. If we were in a relegation battle in the Prem I would not have issue with Warnock fielding a weakened side against the likes of United at Old Trafford where only defeat is inevitable. This is a situation created by 'them' not 'us' and until the FA understand this it will continue to cause problems.

Rather than fly off into a rant what Olly should have said is "surely the 25 man squad rule changes the situation for good. This is a squad game these days and managers must be able to pick any combination of that 25 to do the job" A comment like that might well influence change. Instead of which he looks a fool by saying in November he is deadly serious about resigning and now hiding behind his chairman.

BTW It is the Premier League, nothing to do with the FA
