Wasn't Bent sold when Charlton were a Prem side?
    Your mum would love me...

They'd just been relegated from the Prem.

Granted, but he wasn't exactly a Championship player at the time, is what I meant.

          16.5 according to BBC.

Chris' link stating 21.7 is clearly way out.

If that's the case then its only a matter of hours til the window shuts which is obviously in our favour. Warnock turn ya mobile off!!
Assumes the manager will be consulted. Not always the way we do things at Loftus Rd...

They still had their Premier League share at the time of the sale, so technically, it was Prem to Prem paperwork etc

Interesting angle for me is this... look at teams that have received the top 4 biggest fees:
                  Charlton, Southampton, Boro and Palace.
All of those clubs have subsequently languished or gone backwards - the influx of big money clearly did not bolster their on-pitch performance; actually seems to have had a negative effect.

But Darren Bent doesn't disappear for half a game and kick the ground, hog the ball and look ****-off half the time.

However, when he gets in the game, Bent's not absolutely unstoppable when he gets the ball and can turn a game in seconds. Remember - he failed at Spurs....

Bent is a scorer of goals and that is it, he contributes nothing else. some people will see that as a negative, alot as a positive.

20+ a season in top flight football, guarentees survival = 50 + Million manking 24 million now and 21 million then, a bargain
Andy Johnson got 20 for Palace in the Prem and they went down.

Yep, Bent gets you 20 a season, a third of which will be pens, the others pot shots from 8 yards out. And his assists rate is awful (none this season). Bent is the luckiest footballer alive!
