Interesting angle for me is this... look at teams that have received the top 4 biggest fees:
Charlton, Southampton, Boro and Palace.
All of those clubs have subsequently languished or gone backwards - the influx of big money clearly did not bolster their on-pitch performance; actually seems to have had a negative effect.

Yep, Bent gets you 20 a season, a third of which will be pens, the others pot shots from 8 yards out. And his assists rate is awful (none this season). Bent is the luckiest footballer alive!
