  • Happy with the signings but......

Am I missing something, or was the one thing we wanted, so desperately, more than anything else, a striker to replace Mackie and be our goal machine that can turn draws into wins?

As far as I can make out from what is being said, Miller is a replacement (when match fit which he's not) for Agy. So having Wayne back is fantastic, but with all due respect all he's going to do is serve Hulse more chances to miss, which he undoubtedly will miss if what we've seen so far is anything to go by.

Our defence has done very well up to now, and we'd be miles clear if we had someone to put the ball in the net.

Chimbonda? Who knows what he'll be like, but in reality he's been let go by a team not that many places above us and was out of favour wasn't he?

So, I'm glad we signed players rather than not, especially Wayne, but not being negative just realistic is all this back slapping and excitement over getting in three maybe four players just ignoring the elephant in the room which is, Hulse and HH are not prolific enough and going into Sunday, they are STILL are only striking options.

    Again, am I missing something?

To be fair mate, Mackie has hardly been in the goals for 2 months. Alright we are lacking a goalscorer but we have been since Blackstock left. What I think we are in the process of doing is adding enough re-enforcements to ensure we are in the running for automatic promotion come the end of the season.

Some fair points there big fella...

especially regarding Hulse whose finishing has been rather embarrassing since signing.. let's hope he goes on a scoring spree as would much rather have our strikers scoring if there're in the team.....

        I agree with you.
Every single transfer window for years, we've been desperate for quality strikers and it's never happened.
For a brief second I thought Mackie was the answer but whilst his work rate is superb the goals dried up. I'd rather sign some lazy git that does sod all but given a sniff of a chance the balls in the back of the net before you can blink.
Even before Mackie got injured, we needed a new striker.

Routledge is a great replacement for Mackie. Chimbonda could be the perfect support for him, and as for Miller, we'll have to wait and see. He's done it at this level before.

Dtig- nothing negative in your post. I agree with you. These signings are fantastic and better than what we have. The goalscoring problem doesn't feel like it's been totally addressed but I do have faith in hulse. Hopefully miller joining will fire a rocket up him to find his goalscoring boots!

Who knows, that elusive goal scoring machine might just be Hulse, let him score a few and his confidence will come flooding back, then again we might just sign someone like Austin, lets wait and see, I have this feeling we'll sign a decent striker by the end of this transfer window, don't know why, but I just do.
Opinions are like A******s, everyone has one, but nobody wants to see the other guy's.
