This trial must be his first game (of sorts) in a year aint it? That itself tells me he aint the answer. We are having to trial a supposed Prem striker. And he is doing it. And he won't come on a free. Even if he played just for food he'd be pricey on upkeep.
I know you didn't... but all I'm saying is that IF McCarthy is pulling a caravan, and badly out of shape... then NW wont sign him.
    That's what I trust.

Not sure I'd be quite so convinced about some of our past managers to say "no ta".

I don't know what state Big Mac is in.... but after today, Warnock will know.
Worth a look, simply because he's good.

McCarthy could be one of the shrewdest signings in a long time.

He isn't ancient ok he's 34, but by modern standards that is not too old. This is a guy who has won the Champions League, is South Africa's all time top scorer etc. Let's be honest if he was doing the business like he was at Balckburn (18 months - 2 years ago) we wouldn't have a cat in hells chance of signing him.

He is playing for a poor side and is struggling for fitness and is a bit of a quandry. Needs matches to shift the weight get some confidence etc, can't get that with 10 - 15 minutes here or there.

It would be a gamble no question but we are not talking about a journeyman foreign striker who has delivered nothing his whole career (see Pelicorri) but if he were to come here he really could score some goals for us, and maybe just maybe help us get over the line.

If Warnock makes the call to get him in, then I'm happy to go with that and see what unfolds

I am happy to trust Neil as long as he comes to the right conclusion on this.

        :drunk:

I was being a little flippant about McLardy earlier (though not much) but a more serious question lurks behind it. I assume this is a loan (as we don't buy) but I have a sneaky feeling McL's wages will be pretty spectacular. West Ham bought him at a hopelessly inflated price and it seems safe to assume that was reflected in his personal terms as well. It may be Hammers will pay a bit to get him of their books (nice!) but he is probably still top-end wage-structure-busting material (like his shirts - ooops he is just too easy to mock) so our part of the bill will be, in Rangers terms, big

So, if we are now prepared to pay big buck wages for this loan does that not mean we can get someone better??? Wouldn't be hard. Could find better option languishing on the rear benches at most Prem clubs

... which is basically all I'm saying.

Who knows what shape he's in? Right now.

Benni is a natural finisher. Get him fit and he'll score. Not my 1st choice by any means, but the lad knows where the net is.

I love how the whole 'attitude' card comes out with off form players. If he had an attitude, he probably wouldn't give us the time of day.

That said, I have thought he's past it recently, but you have to think, he's scored well at the top level, so he must surely be capable in the NPC.

No way can we afford his wages even if warnock likes the look of him.

I read something big Sam said about him a few months back. He was saying how he is probably the most natural finisher he's seen but has real issues with his weight. Not that he's lazy but how he's addicted to sweets, chocolate, cakes etc lol. Said it was always a struggle to keep his weight down as he can't help indulging in the sugar. I don't think we will take him on but if we do then I trust nw.

                        OK, let's talk carthorses -

                        McCarthy (QPR) or Parkin (Cardiff)

                        Who would you prefer ?

                        Or Holt (Norwich)

None - but Benni would be third on that list
