  • Alan Brasil - Get Robbie Keane to QPR rant!

Alan Brasil's rant about our owners being tight this morning and not backing NW was interesting considering they are work colleagues.

For those that didn't hear it he was saying that it should be QPR pulling out all the stops to sign Robbie Keane to ensure promotion - not another Prem club.

Would be a great signing, but we would never spend like that even though I think it would mean promotion would look more likely with him and we would have less strengthening to do if we went up.

They want £7m for him. As good as I think Keane would do at this level, it'd be a joke to sign a player for such a high fee outside of the Prem.

    No thanks.
    Your mum would love me...

Just listened to that on the way into work! Was interesting maybe he knows something we dont. Unfortunatley I think he might know that Warnock isnt getting the support financially that he deserves.

Robbie Keane is an unrealistic signing for us. I agree with Benny.

No doubt when he moves though it will be "another one we missed out on".

            Very interesting thread though ....

With our supposed ambition and wealth, should we be looking to sign such players for larger fee's or just keep doing what we're doing, that is trawling around looking for freebies and loans.....(cheap option)

Which system would you prefer and not only that what system should we be undertaking in order to reach the 'promised land' ..... .........

Do we need to be spending real money at this stage ......

I guess it is about risk management. I agree with Benny and Morris - that is is unrealistic, but only because that is the way things are.

It doesn't have to be. We have enough wealth behind us to break the mould, take the risk and look at 7 million + high wages to get us to the Prem.

Once in the Prem, that is worth 40 mill + parachute payments if we drop (they are increasing btw). So if the gamble works we make a huge profit on our investment (or stake!)

So, do you risk 7 million and potential disruption when it does not gauruntee promotion? It is unlikely. But I would love to see us take that chance.

Totally agree ... Lets show some serious intent and get the right players in that we need. If that costs x amount of money so be it.

I don't mean an open cheque book as such but a few pages written out with sums of money on would be nice ...

Lets mop up this league .

This is our best ever chance .... I would hate to see us blow it for not spending the money..

Keane's £60K a week is the stumbling block. Birmingham said yesterday that they would have taken him but for the wages. Spurs wont help pay when he's out on loan, so not many clubs can afford him. QPR included. Come the summer he'll be available for around £1m and £25k a week.
22nd February away v Charlton is the 40th Anniversary of my support of QPR and my first game. Away v Chelsea 3-3 23rd Feb 1974. 40 years of pure magic!!

Also think Alan has a soft spot for QPR being an ex player and all that

£4m will secure you RK - only thing is he's looking for a little top up on his £65k a week........

Is desperate to stay in London though.

No........doesn't like us. Blames the plastic pitch for finally ruining his back.

Met him a couple of times - decent enough bloke - told him I remembered him scoring his only goal for us. He couldn't remember it so asked me to talk him through it!

4m fee and 65k a week, not a chance! I'd be surprised if we pay that next season if we're in premiership!
