Reading through these posts some people seem incredibly negative. Shittu is a reserve centre half, who do you expect? Rio Ferdinand. He will probably play about five games as substitute. We already have the best centre back pairing in the division as shown by our incredible defensive rescord. If he doesn't get back to his best we, presumably, will get rid at the end of the season. Meanwhile he will be a handy lump to bring on - think how we cd have done with him at home to Bristol in the last few minutes.
And Routledge? If we get a £2m player from the Premier League who people - myself included - were incredibly depressed about losing last season I will be absolutely ecstatic. If you'd told me a week ago we had a realistic chance of getting him back I would have laughed at you - would have thought it complete la la stuff.
I'm happy to criticise when its deserved - eg our inexplicable and continued failure to bring in a striker who can actually score goals - but when the club does something that is so obviously good, why all this need to criticise and invent conspiracies? Are people unhappy with their lives? Or unemployed? Really baffles me.
Also, it does seem quite incredible that we are not looking at a goal poacher/sniffer...
I know Phillips is a bit like Red Adair in some respects but if he helps get us up then job done....
Gorkss and Connolly will be first choice centre backs when available, as been said Dan will be perfect to throw on with 10 mins to go when we're defending a lead away from home to deal with everything thrown at us, good signing with experience and cheap.
Routledge is an absolute key signing, his pace scares everyone and with PVM's passing ability i can see him causing havoc on the break and also will work well when Tarbs has 3 men surrounding him.
I think Chimbonda and Miller will be the other 2. Going forward we'll be very very pacy and that will suit us away from home. Miller is as strong as they come and has pace to burn and Chimbonda can play all along the back and a danger at set pieces, i'd be delighted with these 4 and be amazed if we didn't go up.
Strange reaction Stan, millwall fans I've spoken to say he has been a rock for them, Gorks and Connolly have had solid seasons to date but suspensions and injuries with no cover and we are moving our left back to centre half
