  • Great gesture by QPR fans

Some may know young Phil Newman (20 years old) who has been out in Afghanistan serving our Country while we all moan on the message boards

Well he is on a couple of weeks leave at the moment before he goes back to Helmand on Friday and being a massive QPR fan travelled up the coach yesterday to Burnley

On the way back unbeknown to him all the fans on the coach chipped in a few quid so he basically had his coach fare and ticket paid plus a few beers

Shows what a great QPR family we all are despite our bitching at each other at times

He was also telling me that when his Regiment the Irish Guards come home in about three months to their barracks in Windsor they are arranging a match with the local cricket club there which will be an all day fundraising event for those wounded in Afghanistan

I am sure many will like to attend and show our support and I will post further details when I get them

I went to school with his dad, Phil Snr. I saw a fellah at game yesterday and I thought blimey, he's a dead ringer for the Phil Newman I went to school with... just slimmer, fitter, more tanned and better looking (Sorry Phil snr!).... didn't twig it was Phil Jnr. Hats off to his coach party - great gesture that!
