  • All About Getting things Into Prespective

I know we all want new signings to ensure promotion, but in order to get the best players available being in the championship you have to leave it late in the day.

We are in the middle of January and many clubs in the premiership are in the process of doing business and our recent injuries and the fact Kyle Walker was called up by Aston Villa at the last minute has left us all wondering where the new players are going to come from or indeed will we get anyone in.

I am pretty confident that Neil Warnock will get fully supported on the players he wants within reason. We are not going to break the bank or indeed start paying over the odds wages, but Warnock and Jones know the kind of players needed to maintain our position at the top of the table.

The most worrying aspect for many fans is the idea that Warnock is not in control of picking or bringing in the players he wants, which cannot be further from the truth. Even by his own admission Warnock said that we had one player, that he did not expect to make the grade and that by all accounts was Faurlin who came before he was appointed manager. Its all about working together and it must be remembered not every player in the starting 11 was selected/bought in by Warnock himself, its nothing new and we;ve done well so far, in my view many use non-Warnock type players as an excuse to attack certain people. We all know Warnock is a good manager and we are lucky to have him, but in players like Tarrabt and faurlin it shows the partnership between Gianni and Warnock is working very well indeed. This is despite some fans trying to create an opinion amongst fans that the relationship is divisive, when in reality that cannot be further from the truth.

Warnock is total control of players and team selection. If he decides that ledesma is not good enough for the team or indded on the bench, than its him that will decide!! We have seen during the summer 10 players brought, where most of them were the gaffers recommendation, you only have to see players like Derry, Kenny, Hulse, and Clarke to see that.

Warnock always maintained that Clarke was a gamble and in the main we all accepted that and likewise Ledesma should be allowed to impress the manager in training and behind closed door matches, just like any other player. Its quite obvious at this stage, he has not signed and is simply with the squad, just like one or two other players that Warnock has wanted to take a look at.

The first part of the season has shown the best signing the club made was Warnock and the board respect his acheivements, but like any football club in the championship we have to be prudent. We have to make sure that any players brought in strengthen the team and once that case has been made, the board will give him all the backing he wants.

I am not in the slightest concerned that we have not brought anyone in apart from Moen, who Mick Jones/Neil Warnock wanted and got. Many have made judgements already that the board are interferring, I see nothing to back that up. The board and Warnock have spoken this week/will speak further early next week and intend to sort things sooner rather than later and all are working together to get us promoted. Often as fans we are inpatient and want sigings today and I keep reading of another one missed when a name goes to another club, but in reality we have targets and they have not changed. We were never in for players like Yakubu in the first place, so we have hardly lost out. The only player we have missed out on really was Walters a few months ago

It is important that with us 5 points clear we don't lose sight of the main goal of being promoted. If I felt the board were interferring with Warnocks targets I would say so. They all get well enough to sort things out professionally and even though Ledesma has been recommended thats all it is. End of the day, the lad did not play one bad game for us and at his age deserves another chance. Who are we to say he is not good enough? That decision will lay with the manager on whether he plays or not. We had another player who was a goalkeeper brought back in the summer, which did not work out so its not a given that Warnock will even want Ledesma.

All in all we are top by 5 points clear, in fact it could be argued we should be further clear having only won 2 from the last 6 games, but its not a reason to panic and whilst we want things immediately, I am guessing by the time we play Portsmouth we will have a full squad assembled on the wishes of Neil Warnock and no-one else. It will mean 3 or even 4 new players coming to the club

We wernt exactly quick off the mark in the summer with regards transfer activity, but the management team bided there time and they got the right people in,afterall we are top.

Fully understand why thet would prefer loans instead of permanent signings as said earlier by someone Newcastles January purchases are no longer good enough to get in the team.

A couple of decent shrewd loan signings should be enough for the final push.

        Glass definatley 3/4's full.

Hmm.OK some fair points but in general this is a bit skin crawly apologist stuff mate. To compete the jolly up picture we just need Grace Bro younger to pop up and tell us we've all done very well and keep it up.

The logic begins to unravel quite early in it though. On the one hand you seek to reassure us it is early days and no one is trading yet, but in the same sentence point out that part of our problem was Walkers departure (well that looks like trading to me and there are plenty at it).

You may be right to say that most fans key concern is whether Warnock is in sole control. I have to say that isn't my primary worry - I am reasonably confident he is in control; and will remain so as long as he is here. No, what bothers me is stuff like us being a fortnight into a short and crucial transfer window and is seems there is no agreed target/s or authorisation to spend i.e. no plan and no money. We#re in danger of sleepwalking backwards. That's what worries me. IU am all for prudent business management but the busibess plan could say you have X to spend and get us up. Could've and should've been domne ages ago. Instead we have Warnock making appeals through the press for funds.

Funny how this word 'prudent' keeps coming up.

The truth is to NOT invest now, given our current league position, would be the polar opposite of prudence.

We can trade examples of trade big and small if you like. Plenty of examples either way. Some clubs won't be doing business. Some clubs aren't top with money. But the point is I'd be pretty sure no one else has left it till a fortnight ointo the transfer window to start talking targets strategy and cash. And I haven#t seen any of these going to the press saying there is no cash. Like our Manager has felt he had to.

Our manager was being very smart.

I for one wouldn't want to give other clubs the belief we have millions to spend.

He always under-plays it, makes perfect sense for him to do that.

Agree with that @ delighted to read what WOB said earlier about targets being sought. The main concern though is still the Ledesma saga. Just doesnt feel right. Just my opinion!

QBP. Element of truth in that. But element of cliche and element of old tosh as well. I have yet to see him say he won't spend and then spend it. So he isn't underplaying anything - he is saying he has no cash and it appears that is because he hasn't!

The deals are ultimately conducted between savvy adults on both sides and they will not be taking what Neil tells the Fulham Chronicle as determinative of their asking price. That's a quite silly suggestion. I agree he doesn't want to come over all "Man City" but hello - pretty sure no one out there thinks we are throwing money about. Expectations are managed now can get on with it.

Another more credible line would be to say there are funds available to strengthen but only at the right price. Of course the problem there is Neil can't say it as (as he says) there are nu funds to buy.
