Firstly on the Diouf incident, saying how he's better off out of the country and even the tea lady had sympathy with him over the incident ... "Most of the people there don't like him either". True maybe, but then Blackburn may say differently, and act with revenge.

He said he would have rested Mackie but he begged him to play. Who calls the shots?

Then on Liverpool, "I feel sorry for Hodgson inheriting all that rubbish Benitez bought". Most managers toe the line and keep their feelings on other managers to themselves. I have never heard a manager talk about a fellow manager like that before.

Then on our likely lack of spending this transfer break. "Some owners don't seem to be in tune with their clubs", or words to that effect. Again, I hope that doesn't come back to haunt him.

Chatting in a candid way about owners of clubs has always been his way, I expect he is just chipping away at Bernie & Co. He's great entertainment along with Brazil but I wouldn't worry too much about what he say's in the press.

I doubt he would have said those things about Diouf if Allardyce would still be in charge, and not the current nobody. Nobody has asked the question yet why Diouf reacted like he did. Was Mackie winding him up?

Also, he wouldn't have said what he said about Benitiz if he was in the same room as him. How would Warnock have reacted if I'd have phoned in and said "Maybe you'd have some money to spend if you hadn't bought rubbish like Hill and Clarke"... Tongue in cheek.

It was said in a good-natured/banterish way and he then qualified it by saying that he thinks its because owners arent always football-type people and therefore not as knowleagable of the ins and outs of the game. He sounded confident that now he's explained to them that sometimes you need to act fast that they'll agree that its better to spend now rather than wait until the summer, and that they'll back him. He never came across as sounding critical of them and reiterated that the relationship has always been a very healthy and mutually respectful one.

Of course another explanation is the Board have seen the pop in the Gaurdian and told him to stop dissing them and say nice things about them.
