Young season ticket holder
Claudette Murphy added you to the group "Grace Murphy's SDR Fundraising Group" Group description:Grace Murphy’sSDR Fund Please help us raise £40,000 so Grace can have a “life changing” operation in .
She is a bright, beautiful, funny and very determined little girl. She has a form of Cerebral Palsy, called Spastic Diplegia.
Her family are trying to raise enough money for Grace to go to America so she can have an operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy or SDR for short. The operation is performed at the St Louis Children's Hospital in Missouri. Dr Park has been performing this operation for over 28 years; he has operated on over 2,000 children with a 100% success rate. THIS OPERATION IS NOT AVAILABLE ON THE NHS.
The SDR operation will help Grace considerably. At the moment she wears leg splints every day to help her balance. She can walk but gets tired very easily, she often trips and falls. This is because the muscle tone in her legs is always very tight. Any physical activity needs her to work extra hard and even though she always tries her best sometimes she feels very upset that she can't be like her friends.
These are the expectations of Dr Park and his medical team at St. Louis for Grace.
• Her sitting and standing postures will be normal.•
Her walking will be close to normal.• Her balance will be significantly improved.•
She will need no leg splints after a few months.•
She will be able to participate in recreational sports and other fitness activities.•
The muscle tone in her legs will be permanently normal. Please visit our website to find out more about Grace, the operation and our future fundraising events.
Please let us know if you’d like to part in an event or have any ideas! Or Donations can be made
