So do you think having a bone snapped in 2, is the same as having a fracture of a bone?

Do you also think that having a fracture will keep you out the same amount of time as having a bone broken into 2 peices?

Kieron Dyer once broke/fractured his leg in 2 places. Was out for 17 months

Sorry Morris, but they are the same thing mate. Unless of course it's a hairline fracture.

                        Oh, and it's 'ciao'
                        Your mum would love me...

just for the record a fracture and a break ARE the same thing.

there are varying degrees of severity of a fracture, but in theory what our Scandinavian friends say is correct.

as for the original question, 6-9 months would be a fair recovery period from a double leg break. It is impossible to put any real recovery time down though as every player is different. Ben Arfa for example suffered a double break in October and is back next month (4 months). They'll hope to have him back for pre-season, but wont rush anything..

I'll add this one last thing..

A break is a break, there are no different degrees of severity, its just BROKE.

With fractures there can be varying degrees of severity (hairline, stress fracture etc..), which would correlate to recovery time, and seeing as the nature of this thread was to determine Mackie's RECOVERY TIME, there is a difference between the two. (Time wise)

Maybe I didn't make that point clear.

technically, in a medical sense there is no such thing as a "broken" body part, it is said to be fractured.

fractures of course vary in severity from spiral fractures all the way to compound fractures.
