But I think fans are heartily sick of all these "over the rainbow" promises eg "if we are top six by Christmas the board will get the chequebook out then" etc.

I'm still baffled by the question I have asked many times before and have never received an answer to: "What are the board in it for?" I don't buy the line that their aim is to skim the profit when we get into the Premier League - with increased wages etc there won't be any profits, that is what many people fail to understand. Man Utd is the only Premiership club to run at a profit -fact. So what IS the board's game? Its just a guess but I don't think they have one, they are just bumbling along, treating the club as a bit of a vanity project, a hobby - and that Bernie etc prob doesn't give the club much thought from one day to the next.
Excellent post. Agree with every word. Would love to know what the board are with the club for as like you say they clearly aren't going to spend any money. My only guess can be the cash when we get to the Premiership.

Don't buy that. I'm happy to bow to other people on questions of football but I do know about the media. Paul Haywood is a very straight journalist, he would have no motive to unsettle the club, in a big set piece interview like this he would have also got some off the record lines from NW and it is clear the manager wanted to get across the point that he is not being backed by the board.

Qprjames - don't take this personally, you don't know they said that so it's not twisted is it?

Im sorry but you cant twist these words

Neil Wanrock :"We are going to need recruitment. There aren't the funds there to buy players at the moment. I'm trying to bring loan players in. I know we've got a reputation for being moneybags but we haven't got the facility to buy players at the minute."

Agree with James. Singer: it might be fashionable to have a go at journalists but Paul Hayward or the Guardian are not going to make up quotes - Neil Warnock's quotes are in black and white. If there was an error in Warnock's quotes the guardian would be forced to run a correction and an apology. Please, stop trying to wriggle round what has been printed just because it isn't what you want to read.

Sounds like the board are too scared of getting to the premiership and all the baggage that comes with it.

Its unbelievable really that Warnock has to hint to a journalist about the lack of funds his got to send a message to the board

Its been the case with us in the past that we never have the full backing of the people who should be pumping money into the club to enhance the side

I thought this would really change with the owners we got now

This is the closest we have got to getting to the Prem in a long time and its plain to see with some investment our chances are even greater and there profits margins will increase so much more if we got to the Prem

                        Bernie quotes from last year...

“QPR? I don't have a real passion for it at all,” he admits. “I got into it by accident. I'm a Chelsea fan. I got involved through Flavio Briatore. It's difficult not to buy into his enthusiasm for things. I took some shares, I don't care. It's just something I've done.”

When asked if he dreams of promotion to the Premier League for the club, quick as a flash, he replies: “I hope not. That's just even more aggravation.”

“People are either passionate enough to get into it or else they want to massage their ego,” he adds, although then insists he does not fall into either camp. “Football commercially is a disaster and is going to be in trouble until they start sorting out the costs. Look at most of the clubs in the Championship. They're all in trouble financially.”

focused owner bristling with ambition and intent??
or is he also playing the media/paper made it all up ?

Vblock - no I doubt a single person is, my faith is with Nw, I just feel that he is being backed otherwise wouldn't be here.

But if they don't see it for what it is, stick a bit of dosh in now and the chances of huge reward are high, then I think it is sad. I just don't see them being that stupid these are highly proven successfull men that wouldn't miss this opportunity.

I'm not a big fan of Bernie, but he is no mug.

Warnock has said that we as fans expect more than other fans, he has said tongue in cheek, we think we should be playing in the champions league, when he was at palace he said palace fans were always understanding, when they made the play offs they thought they were overachieving, that is very interesting

Maybe Neil thought he would be backed. Be interesting to see his reaction if he feels he isn't being.

Sorry stainrod, I'm not saying that, what I mean is Warnock said it probably but you don't know that the board have said that to him, I'm not sticking up for the board, I think he has an agenda!!
