If you are serious about promotion and building for the future, you would buy
Austin,Morison or someone of that ilk now and take a more seasoned pro
like Owen,Mcarthy,Phillips or someone like that on loan as well.

You have to ask are we serious or are we still trying to do it on the cheap.

When you look at the overall picture we still have not spent much money
    in relation to owners clout.

I find this rather puzzling as rewards related to promotion to the Prem
as we all know are enormous.

I feel in all honesty that we will get promotion but will be relagated the
next season unless we buy big ie 50 Million at least.....cant see that
    happening but you never know.

Personally i would be happy even if we were to be relagated as the club
would be secure, but we still have to get there yet

Blackmafia you have a point, but we have done that with mackie and Clarke.

as regards to loans, many people are forgetting WE ARE TOP OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP, we just need quality.

I am just saying sometimes we are impatient, hardly any business has been done across the leagues, yet we want every striker avaliable. I presume even on a striker, we only need one?

As for loans over buys, you lot would just **** money up the wall !! We need to consolidate our position, we don't need to buy like Hull City, we are about 14 places above them for starters. Many of you in the past have said we have wasted money, yet want to spend 3-4 million at a drop of a hat.

End of the day we need around 11 wins and a few draws, we don't need to buy the championship, like Chelsea have in the premiership. Its done by hard-work adn good leadership, which we have done so far. We have brought in 10 players, really what more do you want?

Amazingly now we find ourselves top, some want to do the very thing we were against at the start, spend millions

I say bring in quality and if its loans than so be it. Thats my opinion.
Not quite! Sinton etc, were regarded quite highly as prospects whereas Clarke was known to be shite and correct me if I am wrong, but Mackie was only regarded as a tallent by Plymouth.

QPR have an amazing chance to automatically go up, yet when it comes to enhancing that prospect what do we do? We wait and wait and wait until we eventually say "well we were in for him, but he had other options and choose them", or, "we made a offer and he was keen, but things change in football".

I don't see the majority of other clubs waiting for rival clubs to make offers for players they want? They bid, offer terms and then tie up the deal, but not us - which is very odd.

As for our squad being good enough? I think the majority of us know we are lucky to be where we are after some our performances. I personally think it shows just how poor the other teams are in this league that we are top.

Hill is an average central defender let alone left back and who do we have as cover, or even better, challenging him for left back - Borrowdale!?

Orr is a capable right back, but who do we have as cover and again challenging him?

Connolly is quality and Gorkks has good games, but is Hall the best we can do to challenge them?

Derry is knackered, old and not able to make the grade if we go up, Faurlin is hit and miss, but potentially good enough for the Prem and Buz is always injured, but again, possibly good enough in the Prem. Who do we have as cover for these players and again challenging them?

Mackie is a forward playing on the wing, as is Smith and both are not Prem class forwards let alone wingers. Mackie out done himself in the begining and is now showing why he won't make the grade. You can run all you want, but if you have no end product then your just Lennon in disguise, but without the pace and trickery! Who is challenging these players? Clarke, Hogan and Agyemang!

I'm bored now listing all the players!

We have a poor squad which is being found out and as I stated above, if the standard of the Championship was better we would be mid-table. Don't kid yourself that we have a good squad full of amazing players.

Saying that, you can only beat what is in front of you and we have, so long may that continue, but it would not surprise me one bit if we only end up in the Play-offs.

I think we will make the play-offs but its by no means a certainty. My wild guess following my gut feeling after reading that Independent article is that we will miss automatic promotion by around 8 points and finish 5th.
