Face it, without Taarabt, QPR would be a top half side. Warnock was saying back in Sept that QPR had a squad that was more like a top 10 outfit than a promotion one.
Personally, i hope we invest in targeted young exciting players who have ambition and are not on huge salaries. With Agyemang, Parker, Helguson, Buszaky, Rowlands, Mahon all out, would it not make sense to strike a loan deal in the short term?Last edited by Hoopla73; 08-01-2011, 12:11 AM.

Its okay looking at younger talent, but I would have hoped we have ambitions of being in the premiership. Not a given that someone like Austin could make it at the highest level.
True about Smith, but he did play in the premiership.
As for Clarke, well no-one sees what Warnock sees in him. Even Mick Jones said Clarke was flying in training, yet when he plays I see a player more concerned on how cold it isALL BEST BANTER AND ALL THE LATEST FROM QPR.

true, but left to many Furlong could have gone within 6 months after being booed, time and time again
We have 2-3 players who could turn out like Furlong already hereALL BEST BANTER AND ALL THE LATEST FROM QPR.

Couple of observations:-
1. We may actually have 3 games in January -- should we take our usual exit route from the FA Cup tomorrow (couldn't care less this year for once) and Hell City do likewise then the postponed fixture could well be arranged for 29th Jan.
2. I dunno the rules but please God we dont end up with another Tommy Smith situation due to "leaving things to the last nano-second". I think the way we got around it was genius, but it was still disruptive and in my opinion cost us a point at Nar'ich.
I however don't really mind too much as long as whatever we do it is Neil Warnock's bidding. I have complete faith in him.
As long as the usual suspects keep their noses out I'm sure we'll be fine.
As to team spirit - I'm sure NW will spell out to any incoming player that they will have to take the Tommy Smith approach and keep their head down and work hard not expecting to stroll in.
For this reason I don't think we'll sign Woodgate but DO think this Charlie Austin fella may be a way forward. I know nothing about him (as i suspect many here do) but his record speaks for itself and the goals don't move no matter what level you play at. Coming from division below I'm sure he'd accept the on the bench at first, last 10, last 20 then gradually a half until you get used to the pace, pattern of play etc, etc. that's the way forward.
I agree we need to act fast ---- sooner players are in, sooner they bed in and that old team spirit can be worked on. As pointed out by others, if another blinder comes along then grab that as well.
No matter -- don't get jittery people - KEEP THE FAITHI need some time in the sunshine, I gotta slow it right down.

Good points, but I'd rather see a quality striker who could replace Hulse or helguson immediately, not someone who is a bench warmer.
If not, then not worth getting anyone in.ALL BEST BANTER AND ALL THE LATEST FROM QPR.

Pete,
Premiership fringe players or drop outs will be on premier wages. Austin won't be on Premiership wages unless we get promoted.
If I was his agent, I would be sitting waiting for a salary offer from a premier league team which would trump what we would offer. I would not expect the likes of Reading or Celtic to trump us if NW likes the player.

Said it before & will say it again, Hull City moved fast & acquired 2 very decent forwards for this division in Aaron Maclean & Matty Fryatt 2 players who would of been more than decent for us. So what was the problem with them moving quick & sealing they're targets?
I don't mind the waiting for good players to come available talk but for 1 we won't be the only ones interested if they are that good & 2 they might mot even become available.
After all this talk if we don't sign someone decent up front in the one season that gives us the best ever chance of returning to the top flight it will be a disgrace.
If NW has targets go & get them.
