  • New stadium?

Wonder if the board are starting to look at this seriously now. If you look at the attendances this year for a large majority of games we have sold out the home end.

Realistically you can't sustain a team on 18k in the premiership and I definitely think we could sell out 25k for most games if we were to go up and for the big games maybe even 30k.

Surely this is something we should be looking at now not in say a years time.

I was led to believe by a very well placed source at the club that they would be launching a public/fan consultation on a possible move by now. I assume by the fact they have not that something has interrupted the publicity machine as I am as sure as I can be that the decision to consult, and the options to consult on, has already been taken at Board level

the thing is from the point of deciding to go for a new ground it will take years to implement so strange they are being so slow. even to expand Loftus Rd wd be a big job requiring planning permission, building regs etc.

The home end has been pretty much full for a large amount of games this year. The home end was all but sold out at the weekend but attendance was only 15,500 odd.

In the premiership demand would go through the roof. Definitely time to expand and grow as a football club. Loftus Road is holding us back

I think they should just double up the Ellerslie Road stand and make it twice the capacity. shimples

Cardiff were getting similar attendances to us at Ninian Park now they get 23/24k regularly

Build it and they will come.

                Initial point not correct anyway

What happens if we don't go up this year and next year we get relegated to league 1?

Seriously though, I would say have two tiers like MKDons have done so you only open the upper tier if there is the demand. In an ideal world you want a stadium that for the majority of the time is 75% full.

A lot more fans would come to a new stadium. Many have stopped coming due to the poor state of the current stadium. Lets be honest, it is past its best.

I've spoken to some mates who don't go as much as they used to, who say its way too uncomfortable, cramped seating, poor atmosphere, very poor facilities, poorly run box office, etc.

We'd get 20000 in a new stadium in this league, and 25-30000 in the prem regularly imo.

Agree and I've said it many times before but hope they build a stadium that is designed to maximise atmosphere

We need stands without restricted view, LR was built at a time when steel girders where a necessity, i am no builder but looking at other stadiums there are obviously stronger compounds etc where these would not be needed, maybe a builer could come o here and enlighten us

                          Build a bowl then.

All this 'soulless bowl' crap is exactly that, crap.

Fans make the atmosphere not the stadium.LR has been a morgue the last few years so stadium design has nothing to do with it whatsoever.Yes it can help acoustics, but what use is that when the fans sit there in silence until they score?.

Just bloody build it! If we're in the prem we'll fill it. If we get relegated just charge a tenner to get in and we'll still fill it.
