Jim Magilton- I can't contain my excitement! Ipswich fans I know say he plays players out of position and makes bizarre substitutions! Sounds like Ian Holloway all over again! This appointment will not put any bums on seats. It's a cheap appointment. Another puppet for Flavio.
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

Scott, you are right it is his choice and although last season was relatively successful in terms of finishing position, we all expected more for one reason or another, so I understand his disappointment. As a result, we magnify problems such as the change of crest etc that would not have been up for discussion had we been promoted.

QBPete is right. The club is bigger than any manager and any board for that matter. We will all be here where Briatore and Co has moved on.

What I would say, however, is that Will's arguments should carry less weight going forward if things don't turn out to plan. If he is not putting the money into the coffers then the club cannot move forward as quickly as it wants and any arguments re buying new players etc should all on deaf ears.

I respect his right to attend when he wants, however, all fans must accept that the club cannot move forward without their support.

Scott, you seem to be the first person on these message boards that understands that this is less to do with being able to afford a season ticket bu more to do with VFM. If we had finished in the top two and were about to enter the Premiership we would have sold out all season tickets (at an increased price if we wanted)

If everyone took Wills stance(and many are, myself included) then the club would be forced to lower season ticket prices and restructure their whole ticketing policy, also people resent playing highly inflated prices when money is being wasted left, right and centre(example-Dowies pay off,Parejo,SDC,ledesma, miller, tomassi, helguson)
I certainly wont give the club the luxury of my hard earned up front when they are bending me over on the prices, the board play on loyalty thinking they will pay whatever we set,but clearly the renewals show this to be untrue,I believe conners you are in a very small minority who have no problem with renewing and are happy with the way things are being run

Who do you expect to keep your club going through this mess ? The answer is your fellow fans. It is unfair to leave the responsibilty on their shoulders isn't it.

Many of us are not happy, but if we all vote with our feet like you what will happen with the club ?

Furthermore, I don't see peoples logic in supporting away games at the expense of home games. If you have a personal budget to spend at QPR games surely it is better that you attend home games (as opposed away games) so that your club can have the benefit of your attendance and not one of our competitors.
I want to effect change, and I have to decide how best to help bring about that change.

First of all, I tried the direct route, which was to write to Briatore (copied to Paladini), after the Sousa sacking, setting out why I felt that was wrong, and what they needed to do to start rebuilding a good relationship with the fans. The letter was polite and rational.

No reply received, and from the ST price fiasco, I can't even console myself with the thought that anything I said had made the slightest impression on their thinking.

Second option, with my consumer hat on, is to withdraw my custom. My reasoning is that if enough of us do that, they will have to ask themselves some tough questions. It may be that, like other people whose opinions I've read here, they dismiss the rebellion as nothing more than a reflection of economic uncertainty. There is no doubt that many people are now unable to pay the prices being demanded, but it is risible self-deception to think that this is the only reason.

We all know that something big is happening above the surface at QPR, but there are also major changes below it. The fans are angry that their loyalty is being so cruelly rewarded. Angry that the 'QPR way' is being trampled on by people who seem to have no understanding of how important this is to us. We all want us to succeed and prosper and play great football. But if that success is at the expense of our own dignity, then we have to make a hard decision. At the moment, this does not seem like the football club I know and love, and for that reason I feel no great wrench to take a step away for a while. I feel I need to make a point. It's a gamble. I don't want QPR to suffer so much that they die, but I want them to feel just bruised enough to know that they have to start playing the business game a different way, or the self-inflicted injuries will only get worse.

In a nutshell, I feel that to continue going to QPR at the moment would be to endorse and support a way of doing things that I am strongly opposed to. It's about values, and about reconciling personal and corporate dignity.

          Time to make a stand.

And all those who are not renewing are the first to come on these boards and complain that we are not signing this 3milion pound player or employing that world cup winning manager or were the same ones who when the take over was annouced that said we don't want to be the next chelsea and buy our way to the top.....no one is that nieve to think that mistakes have not been made, but no one can deny that the club is moving forward and we too have to contribute to that. We spent a large part of last season without the core of our best players no team no matter how rich they are can cope with that..look at arsenal.

Will, good on you coming back to make your point. As someone that has paid for his season ticket, I am at the stage where I am feeling a little subdued when I think about the future of QPR. I will buy my season ticket year in year out regardless. I was forced to move seats last summer and went from sitting in an executive seat which cost just under a £1000 to a "platinum seat" four seats along for £300 less.

There is a fine line in doing what you are doing and it needs to be played properly.

I witnessed a couple of doughnuts cursing Briatore within his ear shot towards the end of the season and it really is this type of supporter that we need to get shot of.

For all the problems we have had, QPR remain a championship club and would not have been had Briatore not walked in the door. I believe we all need to work together to sort the problems out.

I not other comments above about season ticket prices. What do people think is a fair cost for watching QPR games ?

My view is that on attendances and income QPR's rightful home is Division One

3 London, you are spot on.

God I love this board already (message board not QPR board before you all start positing). Haha.
We severely missed Buzsacky, Vine and Rowands last season. They scored quite a few goals the season before and I believe that despite all the problems, that we would have finished in the top six had we had the benefit of their services.

                QPR are definitely moving forward.

Thats a fair comment about buying players. Anyone that ever dared sing "we are the richest club in the world" were lambasted. Some of those now are saying why are we not playing big in the transfer market.

Championship level is difficult as Newcastle United will find, you just cannot buy top players. I think Flavio took a gamble with Parejo, Ledesma and SDC and that might have been the best option.

It could have worked, we have not been in the position before to take players from real Madrid or Fiorentina. After a few games, I thought Ledesma was going to be the next Maradona. Problem is championship is tough as it takes a different kind of player to get your out of the this league.

                    • Still think that Ladesma could have been a big success. He is one of those players that you should be able to carry so that when he has an off day it is not a huge problem. The problem we had at QPR was that we seemed to be carrying too many players in some games earlier in the season.

Ladesma is a confidence player and once he had lost that it was going to be hard getting that back with the atmosphere at HQ.

For some reason, we don't appear to be a club that gives players a chance to flourish.

I am thinking about that Miller guy from a few seasons back, the ozzie guy Ward. I think they were both guys that needed to be built up but had good vision. Unfortunately, they did not get the time.

What it takes to get out of this League is Consistancy in selection and that is one thing we did not have last season, i cannot thik of too may times we played the same team twice!

i also feel that with the young kids from abroad that it was acase of 2 many too soon, there may be a place for one in a squad but not 4. and the best suited one of the four is actully the one we signed. Alberti. Whilst i am sure Parejo will go on to biggr and better things it was fairly clear aftr about 90 mins that the hustle and bustle of the championship was not for him!

Allow me to take you up on a couple of points there chum, firstly a sweeping statement of "those who are not renewing are the first to blah blah blah is utter ********,check all my posts to see if that is the case, also the 6000 or so who havent renewed dont post on these boards do they?

Yes mistakes have been made, yes the club is moving forward, yes any side would miss their best players out all season but thats not the point, people are ****ed off with managers being appointed no one wanted(Dowie) ,the failure to see weare team crying out for a quality goalscorer, the disgraceful treatment of Sousa, the arrogance of Fatboy, the incompetence of Paladini, the 4 year contracts for players clearly not good enough etc etc, I love my Rangers and will still go but just pick my home games more carefully
