I'm so gutted after that, we were the better team by miles and they are one of the worst teams I've seen this season at LR, they came here for a draw and got it. They had 9 men behind the ball for the last 30 minutes and we still refused to push more men forward. They didnt have many supporters there and were very quiet. Outside the ground there was loads of riot police and this is because bristol city took the p*ss round the bush before the game. Anyway back to the game, I was happy to see Hill moved to center half because he is a FAR better player there than he is at left back. We kept the ball for large periods of time but were not clinical enough. Heres my opinion for individual players:
Kenny - Did what was asked for him very well and pulled off a stunning save in the last minute to deny JCR. I feel so confident with him between the sticks, a proper wind up merchant to top it off.
Orr - Some may disagree, but i think he is useless. He cant head the ball, his crossing is diabolical, he cant mark, he cant handle pace, he cant pass. I'd get shot in january, he gives 100% but isnt good enough IMO.
Gorkks - Has been poor of late and was a little bit better today. Not great.
Hill - I thought he had a very good game apart from a lapse in concentration which led to their first. He looks so much more comfortable at center half then when he is a left back. I think he should be used there more often.
Walker - Good game, he used his pace more this game then he has in the past and it worked. Although he needs to get back in position when he bombs forward because at one point he cut in from the left and ran to the far side of their box and they counter attacked and adomah had acres of space to run into. Apart from that very solid.
Derry- Very good game, broke up play well and compliments Faurlin. I did sense that he looked tired in the last 15 minutes, I'd like to see Rowlands get 20 minutes or so to give Derry a break.
Faurlin - Very good game aswell, people say he gives the ball away too much but that is because every attack comes through him. If every pass he did met the target he wouldnt be with us. The only passes he does that are given away are really complicated ones that are trying to create something, you need to speculate to accumulate and all that. Took his goal well.
Mackie - How anybody slates him is beyond me. Scored an offside goal, and he gave 110%. Was threatening down the right wing and played some very good crossed into the box.
Taarabt - Good game, our main threat as always and did a great assist for Faurlins goal. People need to get off his back, i see people moaning saying "pass is pass it" but everyone was cueing up to polish his b*llocks when he scores wondergoals. Why does he keep getting subbed? Let him have 90 mins ffs.
Smith - Decent game, nothing special. Missed a very good chance at the end to win it, I dont see anything that makes him stand out? I'd like him and mackie to be a bit more direct in their play and run at defenders rather than cutting in all the time.
Hulse - His hold up play was very good, it was probably the best i've seen him play this season. But his finishing is awful. I counted at least 10 chances he had and 6 of them were very good chances. I prefer Helguson and would have him in the team way ahead of Hulse. Every header/chance he had he skied it apart from one which forced a save from david james. He needs to step it up a bit and work harder and learn how to finish. From what i've seen from him I'm not impressed, if he cost £1.5 million we've been ripped off.
Subs
Vaagen Moen - Didnt really have enough time to make an impression, hopefully he'll get a start vs blackburn.
From what i've seen we need a left back, center half, extend walkers loan or get a right back and a striker. Oh well we're top of the league but we need some investment to stay there IMO. Not sure why Ageymang wasn't brought on for the last 10 minutes because we desperately needed pace and he has shown he is threatening form the bench. I'm glad Clarke was left on the bench. We got a point but it feels like we lost because of the manner in which it happened.
Onwards and upwards
