As a fanbase we have gone on about how there is no "plan b" (the option of switching to 4-4-2 with a nippy striker alongside the big man) but arguably what has cost us more in the games we have lost this season has been being over-run in midfield. Are two attacking wide players a luxury in tricky away-games? Do Faurlin and Derry need an extra man in there (A Watson/ Pratley/ Brown whoever) to shore things up in such matches? Sometimes its not about going all out for the extra goal but simply trying to get hold of the ball and take a grip of the game. At the risk of stating the obvious you need possession before you can score. If Warnock has some aversion to Rowlands and renews Mahons contract but won't even put him on the bench and has loaned out the admittedly badly off form Legs, what is Warno's take? Doesn't he believe we need more options in the centre of midfield? Or is he simply not impressed with the players in that position currently available?

You are quite right, we do get over-run in midfield. As well as Derry and Faurlin have been this season, they have no pace, so cannot get up and down the pitch when needed. We don't get enough players forward when attacking, which is why Taarabt sometimes has little option but to go it alone. When Walker goes back we will lose the only player with any pace to cause teams any concern. We now have this Moen from Norway, Mick Jones rates him, so maybe he's the midfielder we have been lacking. Lets hope so.

We lack real pace in our side and seem to struggle when teams attack us with pace. One of the reasons I think we get over run in midfield is that if we give the ball away when attacking players like Mackie,Smith and Taarabt don't get back quick enough.

We are top of the league and have only lost two away from home yet you are moaning about our midfield not coping with tough games. All championship games are tough. We need to concentrate on another goalscorer and defensive cover.
Buz will be back soon and with Vaagan Moen available next week our midfield looks pretty good. If VM proves to be ok I think NW will let Mahon go, if he doesn't he'll keep Mahon as cover for Derry.22nd February away v Charlton is the 40th Anniversary of my support of QPR and my first game. Away v Chelsea 3-3 23rd Feb 1974. 40 years of pure magic!!
