Just got home finally after what has been a very long day! I set out this morning at 7.15 after 2 hours of sleep last night!
Interesting match really. First half we were absolutely rubbish and were second to every single ball. Our midfield got badly overrun. The goal we conceded was dreadful defending....all the defenders got dragged to the ball and the Norwich fella had a clean sight at goal. Good finish albeit.
Second half I thought we started really well. Had good possession and how we didn't get a penalty for the foul on Pat is beyond me. He appeared to be well inside the box and fans + players alike appealed to no avail. Had we been given the penalty and scored I have no doubt whatsoever we would have gone on to win the game today. Anyways as it happens, they go straight down the other end on the counter and Connally gets sent off! In the process it is quite clearly a handball from Holt and surprise surprise the ref didnt spot it! How games can be lost to such margins in todays world is beyond me. Sooner or later video technology is going to have to come in so we get these decisions right imo.
After this we piled forward and Nowich had a few great opportunities to win the match but never took them. Pat missed a really good opportunity also with his header grazing the post. We could have snatched an equaliser but it just wasn't to be today.
Few other things...
Clarke was/is diabolical and was by a street mile our worst player today.
The ref was shocking throughout, Taarabt was getting kicked all over the place and as soon as he retaliated he got a straight yellow. Also I'd say 75% of the 50-50 decsions went to Norwich.
Pat was probably our best player today so fair play to him!
