  • Routledge For £2M

Seems Newcastle are willing to take £2M for Wayne Routledge, now I know people say never go back for former players but lets be honest when he was here the club was an absolute joke from top to bottom.

We never got to see the real WR I believe & I also think he would run teams ragged playing in our team. Would he be worth signing with Neil Warnock as his boss & could we accommodate him?

Would be interested to hear you're views. I'd love him back.

Don't really rate him to be honest. He has a good game every now and then.

Also we shoud be building for the prem, if they don't want him...why would he be good enough for us in the premiership?

You'll be in the minority, I reckon mate, but I'm in that minority too.

I always felt he was our best player whilst here, and I'd love him back. The only downside is that he'd replace Mackie, and I think that would be harsh for one of our better players so far this season.

Also, I dont reckon he would fit into our system. Mackie is also very good defensively and I don't think Routs would be up to that.

Replacing someone like Mackie who has been great for us this year would really upset the applecart.

Yea I hear that Ben & James, I just really feel we never saw much of what he can do & the way we play I think he would flourish, but I agree if Mackie was to drop out I wouldn't be up for that at all.

Not sure how that works mate. They have a far better squad than us. That's a stone cold fact.

I'd take most of their 1st team over ours, and I think if we're being honest, most others would too.

Yea its a funny one, for a kid with so much obvious potential & talent it does make you wonder why he's had so many clubs in such a short career.

Seems to be a bit of a nomad doesn't he? Makes me wonder why he never settles anywhere.

I'd take him back in a heartbeat.

Theres no doubting his ability but for him to have never excelled in the prem in the 4 or 5 teams he's played for tells you something about him in my opinion. Warnock has the team fighting tooth and nail for each other and i just dont see Routledge giving that same sort of commitment.
But as i always say, whoever Warnock goes and gets i'll back.

Has the financial situation really changed in a year that we can afford to sell a player and then buy him back 12 months later for a lot more money?

If it's a £2m investment because NW believes he'll help us to see a £48m return then in Warnock i trust.
