Hope you're right, though the Pompey game went a long way to convince me it's already done.

What worried me more was us not wanting him if he had failed to deliver in the last 4 months.

I like Smith (always have) but I don't think he's used as much as he could be in a game. He has a much much better delivery of a dead ball than Taraabt and he has an excellent cross on him. He isn't the quickest and sometimes that costs him against the quicker full backs in this division but he (although many will say Buzsaky) is the perfect replacement for Taraabt if Adel gets injured. Good passer, good vision and links up play well and IMO would be better suited behind a front man (Sheringham type position).

i just hope we dont send him back. it is looking very likely. i think the deal was we give him a little trial with an option to keep him.
i think the chances are 80/20 that he will go back now.

The deal is 100% complete - The money was accounted for in Pompey's financial statements re: leaving administration....

The deal totals £1.5m IF we go up this year as a portion is made up of a bonus payment.
