The next 4 games definitely dictate what we do in the transfer market
then our transfer policy is as mickey mouse as ever then. Successful clubs have a long term strategy, not a knee-jerk "lets see how it goes next week" strategy.

Of course we have a long term ambitions, but after 25 games if your top by say 5-6 points, then you simply don't need much strengthening

Anyone who saw Watford and Leeds will know beyond doubt that we need strengthening - especially in the goal scoring Department.

I'd also add that if Cook and Buzsaky return to fitness plus the additions of Van Moen and Tofas settle in then we will have a further 4 players that we haven't had available to us in the recent weeks.

sorry to disagree pete, but thats not correct. thats still only two losses from not being top. and when you havent got a goalscorer and teams are scroing for fun against you like they are us recently, then any team would need strengthening if they want to garuntee promotiona nd the 100 mill booty.

As Sir Pie's stats showed on another thread - highlighting a point some of us have been making for ages - that our form over the last ten or 15 games is midtable and the early brilliant results were actually virtually all against teams now struggling. It would be a sign of breathtaking complacency - or indifference - on the part of the owners if they thought there was no need to strengthen. If they refuse to strengthen because they have too much deadwood on the wage bill then I can understand that but it is dishonest to hide behind the suggestion that we don't need strengthening, at least up top.

Don't agree Pete, it's a long season and we have a few players in the squad that are getting on a bit and to be honest we rely on too heavily.

In my opinion to ensure we get an automatic spot we need to sign 1 goal scorer, a midfield workhorse (Watson would do) and a centre half with some pace. All of that is in addition to the Norwegian chappy and Kyle Walker extending for the season.

I appreciate a few may need to go to balance the books. Seems like we are likely to sell Legs to Reading in Jan. In my opinion we also need to agree a pay off with Vine, the guy has been hanging around like a bad smell for too long. NW also needs to either make his peace with Rowly and play him or get shot of him, there would be no shortage of takers on a free transfer or small nominal fee.

Decent and realistic signing. Better than Hulse and HH.

I still think we are really poor up front. Mackie and Tarrabts early season goals have hidden pretty ineffectual centre forwards, and a new decent goalscorer along with a new centre half should be our priority.
