Goddard totally agree with regards over ambitious targets from the fans I'm with you on that one. But what I will say is this time last year Kenny Miller was not the top striker in the SPL, Kris Boyd was & he was scoring bundles of goals, was also winning league titles with Rangers & was playing Champions League football & where did he end up? The championship with Boro.

Not picking a row as I said I do agree with you but with regards a player like Miller I feel he is a player we would have a chance with, his age & the fact Glasgow Rangers are skint can only help. If I was a betting man I wouldn't fancy our chances but as I say this time last year Boyd was the big cheese so theirs always a chance. The only thing I can see going against us is that he loves Rangers & is obviously enjoying his football. But as they say its a funny old game.

I'm with Goddard on this one. We don't need Prem players who haven't kicked a ball for months or are too expensive and who think that we are below them. But in form or slightly out of favour championship players willing to fight and wanting to play for us.

Its a tricky one. You said in another thread - and I agreed - that we need players for the first team, not to warm the bench, so if they are "slightly out of favour championship players" not sure they will necessarily improve us. Chopra is an obvious exception but not sure we want more honest Championship toilers of the Jamie Mackie variety. As I've said elsewhere, in January if we are still top we are reasonably attractive to Premiership players starting for the bottom half dozen teams. The question imo is less whether we can attract such players as whether we are prepared to pay for them.

As you said there is Chopra, there is Fryatt at Leicester and there is Paterson at Burnley. Paterson scored 12 in a relegated Scunny team, followed by 13 for promoted Burnley and has a couple this season but will score more if given a run in the side. Laws is currently operating a similar system to us with just a big man up front. For a 23 year old his record is very good. As for Fryatt he scored a goal every 182 minutes last season but SGE prefers to start with Bednar and Vassell leaving Fryatt in the cold.

IMO there aren't many (if any) strikers who will drop down from the Premiership who will really improve the side. Bednar hasn't scored in the Championship this season, Bellamy was only ever going to go to Cardiff and as for players like Roberts and Moses they are both currently injured and whilst both of them were actually getting games for their respective clubs I doubt they'd drop down to the NPC. Kevin Phillips is a possibility but do we want impact subs when the game might already have been lost or do we want players who can play the full 90 minutes?

Sturridge from chelski not playing regular would be good loan move for the rest of the season

              A) Would his ego allow him to move and B) could we afford 50% of his salary?
