  • Next 4 Games Crucial To Our Season

I know the doom and gloom merchants would make us believe we are on a slippery slope, but realistically the next 4 games are the most crucial of the season.

I'm not forgetting we are 3 points clear with a game in hand of our nearest pursurers so its us that every club still wants to beat. Ask any championship manager who they think will get promoted, than QPR would be the first team on their lips. Reality is we now have to prove we are not in a false position and take the next 4 games very seriously. I think we could excuse one slip up and maybe even a draw to be still top come the end of this next tricky spell, but anything less than supporters will feel the wheels are coming off slowly. Pressure will mount on the manager and players confidence will start to dip. Notoriously we don't have exceptional Christmas periods, but this time we probably need one.

The chasing pack are starting to close after a run of two defeats, but luckily the two closest pursurers at the beginning of December, Cardiff and Swansea have not captulised, and now its bringing the whole Top 6 closer together. Inevitably after a defeat questions are asked, but anyone at the start of the season would have bitten our hands off to be in this position, the big debate will be whether we can maintain it. Goes without saying this is the tightest championship for years and we really need to supplement our Top spot.

We are going to be reliant on Mackie and Tarrabt regaining their form and Hulse and Smith finding some kind of form. The centre back pairing need to go back to basics and do what they were good at, during the part of the season where we were hardly conceding. In all sport, you have your ups and downs, its how you react to the downturns that ultimately dictate your season. We have already proved we are the best team in the championship and the players cannot lose sight of that. When you lose, you always wonder where your next win is going to come from, but the players better start believing a win is around the corner, otherwise all the hard work they put in to get us in this great position would be wasted.

All in all the next 4 games will not finalise where we finish, but in my opinion it will have a great say in what our expectations are.

    10-12 points, everyone is confident

6-9 Points the lower end just about okay and would still mean we would be top, come the end of this tricky period, the higher end confidence would definitely return and all expectations would be focused on automatic promotion

3-5 Points Would probably mean we would be off the Top Spot and pressure would mount to change the team, for the club to bring in new players

Less than 3 points, then I would seriously be questioning our ambition and would be looking at Play Offs instead of automnatic, which in the context on how we started this season, would be a mini disaster.

    Good post Pete.

Given that our upcoming matches are against the teams around us, think it's important to still be top dog after this tricky time for the reasons you mentioned.

Also think fans have a part to play and not get on our players backs at the first signs of a blip but support them. Swansea will be interesting and I hope the fans remain patient for that one as it could be a pretty nervy affair as they can be hard to break down.

Good post but it's crucial for every team and not just us. Can Leeds sustain their form? Can Cardiff get back to winning ways, can Swansea start scoring again? Will Ipswich have turned a corner or was yesterday a one off result. Of course 12 points means we are laughing but if the teams around us don't win or draw against each other then 6 or 7 maybe a good return.

I think it all depends on this next home game with Swansea

Need a win to lift the spirits after them losses

A 3rd loss will really dampen the mood for glory back to the Prem

Your just going through your blip at the moment. Cardiff have done the same. Hopefully we will get out of ours against Coventry on boxing day.
Its going to be an interesting January. Wayne Routledge is the name being branded as Dave Jones number 1 target in January with Burke leaving for Birmingham. All still just terrace rumours at the moment tho

Okay, Leeds are doing well but inevitably they are going to lose some. As I say, 12 points up for grabs in a very short space of time, thats where it could be won or lost.

Burke is your best player by a country mile so it would be madness to sell him.

And that includes Bellamy in that statement.
