Connolly in a sweeper type role?.

Do you reckon he could play that position in a system featuring a sweeper?.

Seems confident on the ball.And has decent distribution.

Maybe play in front of a back four of Delaney,Gorkks,Stewart and Ramage.

Just a thought and wondered what other people made of it.

Burnley have played Graham Alexander (naturally a centre back) in that role all year. He played as a sweeper in the wins against Spurs, Fulham, Chelsea, Arsenal and West Brom. I think it's a role that Connolly could definitely play but with Lopez and Rowlands competing for starting positions alongside Buzsaky central midfield is a strong area.

He could play in Midfield if needed, played there for Arsenal and has enough ability to play the sweeper role no doubt.
