A true R's legend. Only Sir Les equalled his goals scored tally for a season. Looking back its amazing to think he was often a target for the boo-boys.

      Completely agree with him here:
“People say the game’s faster now, but I’m not so sure that QPR team wouldn’t be able to hold their own today. "

Don was a great player in his day, legend
I blew a lot on vodka and tonic, gambling and fags. Looking back, I think I overdid it on the tonic. - The one and only Stanley Bowles

And he seemed to play with a smile on his face. That whole side seemed to enjoy their football. If we have "Sir Les", then I propose "The Don"!

was a tremedous goal scorer/poacher - never really got the star treatment as his goals were overshadowed by the outrageous flair of Stanley and to a certain extent Dave Thomas and the young but undoubted genius that was Gerry Francis - Terry Venables was also a fairly high level face at the time and i think Don kinda got on with the job in hand and didn't really get the recognition he deserved - did we not at one stage field a team comprising of Don Givens, Don Masson, Don Rogers and Don Shanks and if so why did Wimbledon assume the name "the Dons" ?
