all good points Goddard. Wd just say that this close season we got away with introducing eight or so new players but much trickier to do in a whole new division. If we widely agree we would need five or six new first team players if we were to be promoted then it makes sense to ease a couple of them in this Jan. Take your point about Phillips and he would, as you say, be a great super-sub to help get us up. I would just hope we would use this opportunity to buy a little more than that. I'm not sold on Chopra - W12 mentions Nugent and I agree he is an excellent all-round player. I just hope the board doesn't rely on Warno's well known tendency to pick up cheap, average players and turn them into fairly good ones. I hope January doesn't become a "great news: we've signed Leon Best" let down.

Nugent, far better bet than Chopra, IMO.
One of the very few from outside the Prem that would be realistic to attract, and would be an asset in this league, and the Prem.

I like Chris Burke from Cardiff, not a striker, but really good player, with pace.

Maybe there are others, but it's hard to predict who can cut it.

I mean... Luke Varney looks better than Rooney or Torres at the moment!
(yeah I know - stupid comparison!)

(Like you, I really hate tempting fate like this about what happens "if we go up".... but we're just chewing the fat here!)

Ched Evans and Simon Cox were all rated here ages ago, all quiet now though

Cox isn't a regular at WBA and Evans is playing for a skint club going no where fast!

All yesterdays chip paper though eh?

Rubbish player apparently! If he can't get in the Derby side he's no good for us..............

OK, we are agreed - Nugent it is. Who's going to ring Neil and tell him?

Sometimes have a beer with a Pompey fan. He reckons Nugent is great as long as you can keep him out of the pub.

Ok interesting hmm... ok i'll match your 400 chips and raise you 1500, do you want to call me? Infact you should just fold (if only he knew I was holding Clarke Carlisle)
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!
