  • QPR Forming Closer Ties With India

The championship, which aims at promoting soccer among the youth in the city, would serve as a 'Talent Hunt' as 30 talented youngsters will be shortlisted for a coaching clinic that is being conducted by the Queens Park Rangers (QPR) coaching teams who are in the city.

From this training camp, two youngsters shall be selected for a six-weeks training programme at the Queens Park Rangers Youth Development Centre in London.

Also present at the inauguration were actor John Abraham, and Queens Park Rangers' chairman, Ishan Saksena, and vice chairman, Amit Bhatia

Oh dear. Now I am not racist and I play 5 aside with many indians. All a good bunch but all dreadful football players. I think its great to give youngster that haven't had an easy upbringing a chance but there is no such thing as a decent indian footballer. I think the closest person was a player that was at Ipswich town but I can't recall any indian players playing premiership football. I really hope our indian ownership doesn't waist time in areas that won't improve queens park rangers football club.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Chopra is indian, but apart from that, weare you are right, its not rasist, just like there are no decent black swimmers, or only 1 white sprinter in 100m final..

Pete potential market for businesses but not footballers. They will be a power house in the import and export industry but I am afraid NOT football. Chopra is half indian so I didn't include him.

My opinion is we should be putting in time regarding our youth set up and I think Palace have put ours to shame. We have so many other areas that need tackling yet I guess with indian owners they will have different objectives.

Don't think you can say that because who would have said India would have won any gold medals in the CWG, they came second and in future could win lots more, India is a masive country and could pull out a few gems out the box, anything is worth a try plus the support it could bring QPR for the future is something that this club really needs.

Myu we should be putting things into a priority area. For me our youth set up is a shambles. We should be looking at setting up a school of excellence so we don't lose quality that does come through. We still don't produce enough youngsters like sterling and I think palace must be doing something right as they produce plenty. Are we going to keep looking at loans from top premiership clubs? We need to concentrate on what we are doing within the club before waisting more time and money in those kind of areas.

I agree with you and I'm sure our club is doing things to make things better, they sure are aware of youth set up and what their future plans are we don't know, it don't mean they are doing nothing.

Neil Warnock must have given them ideas already if nothing was being done but things do take time.

Agree with comments on our youth system. However think owners being pretty shrewd. India has a massively growing middle class population and more people with disposable income. Makes sense for them to be trying to pique the interest of those people from a merchandising angle pretty much like Manure have with the Far East.

In real terms we are a small club and if we are to grow and become sustainable we need to look at every income stream we can and a growing fanbase in India wouldn't hurt.

From a footballing perspective with the large population in India who knows what could happen long term with some proper coaching in place for kids from a young age.

Perhaps you are right that the money invested in local talent would yield greater results in terms of the quality of the players you will find. However, our owners are Indian, and they are not going to India with the intention of finding the next BIG star, they are trying to do some good in local communities over there. They have invested in QPR so that they can use football as a force for good in India as well as England, and I think that is great.

Anything we do in India, will be purely for marketing purposes and due to having Mittals involved.
We would probably even give a contract out to a sub standard player just to score brownie points!!

Mind you some of the contracts given in the past.. No. 10 - Singh would probably be a better player !! ;)

Mittals are pushing for links in India, which is ok.
                              But why????
If as it seems, mittal doe's not want to take the club on, why are they bothering with India???
