TOMMY Smith has vowed lightning won't strike twice as he bids to secure promotion to the Premier League. The QPR winger was at Watford in 2008 when the Horents blew a hefty lead at the top of the Championship to only just scrape into the play-off places.

I suppose he has to gloss over it. But that Watford team weren't just one dimensional they were shockingly badly managed (by their Board and Boothroyd). They weren't a good team when they came down but seemed strong enough at the beginning. Trye soon enough teams were onto their long ball game and if you stopped bully boy you stopped them. Some could some couldn't. But what really did for them was they started selling (we had Gavin off them of course). By the New year they weren't the same team and they couldn't win a game. They didn't deserve the play off spot but I have no difficulty watching Watford get all excited and then lose.
