dont understand why everyone is scoffing at the idea.
if leicester and west ham are interested, then surely us being considerably richer than both and are going to be in a higher division than both next season can also have him on our wish list cant we?

think some are getting a bit carried away with everything at the mo,yeah we are top & i do hope we stay there, but with posters saying we are as good as promoted in dec is a bit premature. i do believe in strengthening with players who will be good enough to step up to the prem if we get there & affordable but likes of keane are just not realistic.

well if the much travelled liverpool, celtic and tottenham reject keane is to much to aim for, its going to be a miserable one year up there then isnt it.
maybe we could get simpson and backstock back if we are aiming a bit lower.

oh and by the way, it would take a major catostrophe that will rock the whole of football if we dont go up (check our odds), so its not really getting carried away, its getting ready imho.

I have enjoyed reading this thread, so for what its worth here's my 2 pence worth.

I agree with GTP here, we are going for Promotion so why shouldnt we try for someone like Keane? Leicester have shown ambition by trying to get him. If you dont ask you dont get. He isnt getting a game at Spurs so why shouldnt we chance our arm and try and get him in on loan to really put the cat amongst the pigeons in our division.
Personnaly if we do get to the prem (and it is still an IF in my eyes) i wouldnt pay Keane 80-90 large a week, i rate the guy and (being of Irish dissent) i have followed his career with interest but believe there is better out there at cheaper wages.

As for the we are bigger than West Ham comment....please! We are like West Ham in many ways and have a hardcore loyal bunch of fans like them but theres are bigger (we get a die hard of 13000 every week wheres the West Ham get 30000) Also the potential at West Ham is HUGE. If someone had the balls to do an Abramovich at West Ham they'd out sell the likes of Chelsea easy (obviously if they had the ground space)

just another quick point, his career is on the way down, not up.
hes had all his big money moves, the next one is going to be his worst ever move since he started out as a wanted striker.
so his wages would be nowhere near what he got from spuds on a mega deal.
he knows that and so does everyone else who would try to sign him.
im not saying he will come here, but calling r's who think we should be going for players like this deluded and nutters is wrong as well. hes EXACTLY the type of player we should be hunting down if we are going to get up clear champions and then stay up.
reach for the stars now is my motto.

Your point is valid that he wouldn't drop down a division but this comment you've made is just plain wrong

a question for all the posters who think we should go for keane- when exactly have the board shown any intention on spending obscene £ on players of this calibre? they have spent wisely upto now & cant see it changing. take what happened to leeds as a good example, lived beyond there means & have been paying for it for a few years now.

Well if Bellamy can get a move to Cardiff we could sign Keane on loan any time. Cant see spurs letting him go though, what if Pav or Crouch get injured, they would be down to the 'bare bones ' as sir harold might say.

Read the comment again. Look at Celtic's kit deal with Nike. Believe me, on a global scale, Celtic have the potential to mirror Barcelona IF they were in a competitive globally broadcast competition. As for the comparison with Newcastle, please! Nowhere close.

PS I hate Celtic ask Ric-Roc!

Nodge you're wasting your time my friend. Some on here simply wear rose tinted glasses and haven't got a clue. Squirrels comments about Celtic I found most histerical! Haven't laughed that much in a long time. To think he had the cheek to try and say I don't know my football. Don't bother wasting your time mate.

well hes deffo going somewhere. shame we are such a skint little no mark club going nowhere and having quality proven strikers on their way down and out in our team in the premiership will never ever happen.

Unsettled Republic of ireland international Robbie Keane wants a permanent move in January and Tottenham will not stand in his way, according to boss Harry Redknapp.
