It's not about whether Ben Watson is better than Derry... it's more about him being far better than Mahon, Leigertwood, Rowlands or having to play Matt Connelly in midfield if/when Derry is suspended, injured, or just needs a break.

    Squad game.
Surely after the injuries and suspensions we've had over the last couple of months, people can see that?
Two from: Faurlin, Derry, Watson is better for QPR than two from: Leigertwood, Mahon and Rowlands.
That's the difference this season, compared to recent seasons.

That's what Warnock wants available to him... quality players/options he can trust 100% to carry out his orders.

    That's why we're top.

          Spot on!!

          Simply as that.

Add Petter Vaagan Moen to that thought (and list) as well.

According to many posters on here Ben Watson were excellent during his first few games in hoops.

But his form dipped when the Magiltongate and so on ruined the teamspirit on and off the field.

            It would.

But not if it's a similar type of CF to Hulse or HH.

That's why I'm not so keen on Roberts, Bednar, Iverson, and one or two others who've been touted around on here.
Good enough players, but wouldn't add much to us, or add a different dimension to the team.
A bit of genuine pace/sharpness up top would be better.

And it has to be a player who doesn't expect to just walk into our starting 11 from Day One.

I thought Watson was poor when he was with us last time, Ambrose is a better quality addition IMHO.

I actually like and rate Watson and would have him in the squad 100%

What interested me however was how Scott Parker bounced off him yesterday and then ran past him to get the 3rd goal for the hammers. Would need a bigger work ethic from him if he is going to fit in the squad!!

The way he feels about NW, it's certain he'd work his ar$e off for us.
Watson speaks very highly of Our Neil:

West Brom's Ben Watson tips Neil Warnock to make a success of QPR

Feb 28 2010 by Andy Walker, Sunday Mercury

Watson admits that Warnock is the best manager he’s ever worked under and has hailed the Yorkshireman as the ideal candidate to help QPR realise the potential that has been stored away ever since the 2007 takeover that saw them dubbed one of the richest clubs in the world.

“I’m 110 per cent sure that Neil Warnock would do a job at QPR, if anyone can sort that club out then it will be himself,” insisted Watson. “It will be interesting to see what happens.

“I loved him, we had a good relationship and I enjoyed playing under him. It was a good experience and probably an experience that you won’t have again. All in all, I had a fantastic time with him.

“He’s got both sides to him. If you put it in for him on the pitch then he won’t have a problem. If you don’t then you have a problem.

“In general, he’s a top manager as he’s proved at this level with the promotions he’s had and it wouldn’t surprise me if he got that job.

“I had a great time at QPR so I’ve got nothing against the club and I look forward to going back there.

“Towards the end of my spell there it got a bit mad when the gaffer Jim Magilton got sacked.

“They just need to let a manager get on with it, they need to settle down.

“The set-up is alright but success won’t come overnight and they need to give a manager a chance because at the moment they’re in a relegation scrap.”

Having come through the Palace ranks under a succession of managers, it was Warnock that helped Watson produce the performances that paved the way for his move to a Premier League club.

Watson continued: “Trevor Francis gave me my debut, then Iain Dowie came in and that was when I played some good football.

“But I probably played my best under Warnock..... When he came in to Palace, my career was at a standstill and he gave me that injection of energy and it all went from there.”

Safe to say, no worries about Watson not trying.
