  • The Truth Re: Penalty Shouts & Offside Goals

Having looked closely at the footage of yesterday's penalty shouts and Bellamy's goal, here are the facts:

Ranger's penalty shout for the handball = Stonewall

    Bellamy's goal = Onside

    Bothroyd penalty Shout = Stonewall

Bellamy's penalty shout = Stonewall FREEKICK.

He was fouled (his right boot was clipped), BUT it was outside the box. The tug on his shirt wasn't what brought him down.

    Clarke's penalty shout = Stonewall

    So, after factoring everything in:

We were more badly done by than the Sheep Shaggers.

    Case closed.

I thought there goal seeing it yesterday was offside. Looking at the pitch cutting when bothroyd played the ball, i see Bellend in front of the last defender (looking at the lines on the pitch) and in front of the ball.

      All the rest agreed ..
One for all.... and all for one

Thought Bellamy was behind the ball personally. Agree on the penalties. My 9 year old boy couldn't understand why the ref didn't give either.

Hmm......just watched again. It's very close.

Just looked at their handball again, and originally I thought the ball hit the player's left hand, but now I see it was actually his right upper arm (ball to arm), so I'm now thinking the ref got it right on that one.

Anyway, it doesn't matter now. Just can't stand sore losers (Jones).

It does show how difficult it can be for refs with some decisions, as things happen so fast.

One final thing - Jones and the BBC both said that if Bothroyd wasn't fouled, then he should have been booked for diving. BUT from some angles it does look like Connolly got the ball, and the ref could have thought that he got the ball THEN Bothroyd. So it's a very simplistic view from the Beeb and Jones.

Bothroyds was definitely a pen, fair enough.
But for him to say he "would have scored" is pushing it. He was still at an angle with two Rangers players (Faurlin and someone else) about to challenge him, and it would still have needed a decent finish past Kenny.

Add to that, the penalty on Leon Clarke would/should have been a red card for the Cardiff defender if the ref had given it.
Clean through on the keeper, last man, and all that.

And Bellamy should have been red-carded for sporting false teeth and no neck.
And Bothroyd for stealing an England cap.

I'm still not 100% convinced Bellamy was offside, it looked real close and I think I need a double widescreen TV to view all 3 participants when the ball was played.

That said, that we're still discussing it without 100% certainty Sunday morning, means a VERY tough call for any Lino or ref to make at the time, with 1 view of it.

Not sure about our 1st pen shout either - looked to me to hit his chest, not arm.

But I'm gettingo ld and may need glasses !

                  Yep.
But I wouldn't have put my mortgage on Englands latest centre forward to finish like Adel did. (!)
