  • Two Stats are Better than One

First stat just in case you missed it was originally on dot.org but Goddard posted it up on here and the second stat is my own. Hopefully both combined will highlight firstly how far we've come in such a short space of time and secondly it will show you how we are doing compared to our nearest rivals:

    From dot.org:
So far this season we have played 17 games, have 35 points and have scored 30 and let in 7.

Based on the same games against the teams we have played so far, with the following substitutions based on promotion/relegation positions: (Burnley/Newcastle, Hull/West Brom, Blackpool/Pompey, Norwich/Sheff Wed, Leeds/Plymouth, Millwall/Peterboro), we would now have had 17 points, scored 22 and let in an amazing 35 goals!.

So we are currently 18 points better off with a swing of 36 goals on the goal difference! The only game that we did not do as well against this season so far is Derby away.

    From Me:
QPR and Swansea have both played these oppositions this season:

Derby, Norwich, Burnley, Reading, Forest, Scunthorpe, Leicester, Middlesbrough, Bristol City, Palace and we've picked up 20 points and they've picked up 19 points. So although we are drawing matches when you compare us to Swansea we've picked up more points against the same opposition than they have.

QPR and Cardiff have both played these oppositions this season:

Swansea, Derby, Norwich, Ipswich, Reading, Donny, Portsmouth, Millwall, Barnsley, Leicester, Bristol City, Sheff Utd and Palace and once again we've picked up more points against the same opposition then they have - 27 to 24.

When Cardiff play the team we've played and vice versa then we can say whether or not we've dropped points because the truth is that we have picked up more points than either of our rivals against the same opposition. Who knows how they or we will do when we play the other teams.

Interesting stats Sir Pie and gives us some encouragement. Long may this trend continue. Unlike some I thought draws away to Portsmouth and Forest were excellent results. However, I think we would all agree that unless we start converting some draws into wins - particularly some of the upcoming fixtures that look easier, at least on paper - then we will almost certainly start to slip down the table.

Agree with you and the two draws we picked up were away from home, it's our home games that we need results from.

Last year Forest only won 4 away games all season and finished in the play off's.

          Spot on.
          Exactly how I see it.

The recent away draws at Swansea, Forest and Pompey were all superb results... but when you look at them as a block of 3 points from a possible 9, it can look like a poor sequence of results.
          It's not.

NOBODY is daft enough to think that a draw at home to Preston will be good enough for a team looking for a top 2 position.
It might happen, and while it wouldn't be the end of the world... it would be a major chance to get 3 points missed, and would be a poor result.

On current form, we'd end up on just shy of 95 points.

              Still...We're an awful side.

And remember Stoke went up in 2nd with 79 points and Birmingham the year after in 2nd went up with 83 points. If Forest came 3rd with 79 points then 80+ is the target or 45 points from 29 games, which is 12 wins, 9 draws and 8 losses, which IMO is more than achievable.

we are an amazing side, a totally unbelievable side who imo will gain promotion to the premiership, and just one (maybe two) man away from absolutely walking this league.

I think you might be right. Funny how those so vocal on other threads ignore this thread because they hate to see facts put to them.

We have a better record against the same teams that we've played and that Cardiff and Swansea have played - FACT.

Lets wait and see how we do against the teams that Cardiff and Swansea have played and see if "we've dropped points" as some are suggesting.

Very reassuring -- especially when you look at the last few games and the next few games.

I find this more encouraging and convincing! 12 games are more than possible, 9 draws = 3 wins so let it be 15 wins! and dont care about the rest matches draws/looses
