I don't think this is worth blowing up into a big thing, with things on the pitch going so well any ill feeling that gets transferred to the players can only have a detrimental effect and that’s the last thing that we need… Especially as the Premiership now seems to be much more than just a distant dream.

That being said, it would appear that the "Mittals" certainly aren't anywhere near as interested as we may have thought they were.

Whilst I'm delighted with Warnock at the helm and the new setup since our overly hyped 'takeover' last season... The thought of having the club in the hands of Bernie Ecclestone doesn't really fill me with much optimism/hope.

His interviews to the press (yep, I know they are/were tongue in cheek) is pretty horrific reading in all honesty. I don't see Ecclestone as being one to dip his hand into the pocket as and when it may be needed... and for all the talk about us being top of the league/unbeaten etc, we still have spent relatively little money on transfers - even compared to other Championship clubs.
    good post and spot on
Stability and Transparency is never going to happen with the current lot of shareholders it seems. Sincerity and Honesty also seems to be a bit scarce these days too dont you think?..

I can see where your concerns lie Jeffro, but I really do not know how these can be overcome as far as we are concerned.

Pretty much everyone was very concerned with our financial stability when GP was in charge and rightly so.

Then suddenly, many people thought we were "rich" and Bernie and Flavio were featuring in songs as well as being hailed as saviours. Then Flavio started interfering with things that he would have been better keeping out of and became a figure of hate to many.

Then just as suddenly, step forward Mr Mittal and his family, at last someone who we can now believe in rather than that horrible fat Italian. Now, because many people put two and two together and came up with the wrong answer, there is now a growing resentment towards a man that has probably not had much input into the club and never intended to. He just happens to own a decent percentage whatever that may be.

Are we unhappy because he is so rich but not spending it on us ?

Or because in like most busineses, the owners, for their own reasons, play around with shareholdings, directors loans, subsidiary companies etc. ?

I actually share all of your concerns to a degree, but certainly don't have the answers. Transparency is just one of thoe things that we all would like more of but are unlikely to ever get.

Don't agree with SM1882, as Warnock has got what he wanted this season and who put his hands in his pocket?

Always thought it strange, it was when the club shop hadn't been moved to a corner the alarm bells rang.

Dont think Warnock got what or who he wanted pete, and this is by his own admission.

Also something about goings on behind the scene messing up some of the transfers.

Seems to me that warnock did not spend all of his transfer kitty either.

                Very good post SM.

I think you are spot on and I think we need to remain very cautious as fans.

These posts that Pete has claimed regarding it being an 'exciting jan' definately sound very far fetched and we shouldn't get carried away because I think many fans will be very disaapointed if they follow this lead.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Warnock has done an unbelievable job on a relatively low budget.

                    Clint Hill - Free.
                    Derry - Free.
                    Clarke - Free
                    Hulse - 400k?
                    Mackie - 400k?
                    Taarabt - 500k?
                    Kenny - 1m
                    Smith - 1m?

Let's say in total he has spent in/around £3 million. It's not head spinning money, even "smaller" clubs spent bigger money on individual money on transfer fees.

Donny splashed £1.5m on Sharpe if I remember correctly?
What did Ched Evans cost Sheffield United? £2m?

Credit to Warnock though, he got a cracking set of players that seem capable of challenging at the right end of the table.

I think Ecclestone probably funded those signings (purely because I don't think Lakshmi Mittal is interested - even if Amit is).

Mind me asking Pete... How big a transfer fund would you expect to be available if/when we were to win promotion? I can't see it being anything THAT special, certainly nothing like what was spoken about in the article involving Amit Bhatia just a fortnight ago...

We got 2.5 from Newcastle for WR which was never spent, so in relation we have only spent 500k.

And sitting 2nd in the league

You really do have to laugh, when you expect millions to be promoted

                          Sm1882

You may not like Bernie, but at a club like ours not many better in the world of sport.

You really do under-estimate the power this guy has.

As for not supporting QPR, thats our job not the owners. Look around the world of owners supporting of the club is rarely a question, its purely business to them.

If you think you need to be a lifelong supporter to make a success of it, then you are mistaken. Chris Wright was a QPR fan and look what happened, and West Ham have a supporter owner, but they are at the bottom of the premiership.

Us fans always tend to look at grass on the other side, trouble is its rarely greener

Pete , no-one has a problem with being 2nd, but what people do have a problem with is all the cloak and dagger shenanigans.

If you did a poll 6 weeks ago to whom has the biggest share and controlling interest into QPR, then Mittal/Bhattia would have got 95-100%, similarly if you asked how much Briatore had input it would be little if none.

Yet we find out that they actually own 70% still via a bloody F1 publication and that they have been funding the club monthly to the tune of 800k!!

I have no problem with that, but why cant the club come out and be honest to us real fans?

How much were we going to pay for the reid from ipswich 3.5 mill, that fell thru and we ended by paying out or will pay around 2mill for smith and hulse.

Pete - you do yourself no favours coming out with this stuff. For the last couple of years you have put forward the ideas that the owners(whoever they are) will spend BIG if we are top two come January. We have 6/7 matches till the end of the year. Unless we have a major problem we will be in the top 3 come Jan 1 - what then? Be careful what you say now.
