  • Before the Reading game..

we were 4 points ahead of swansea and 6 ahead of 4th. Now after playing pompey and forest away, and reading at home, we're 3 points ahead of swans and 8 points ahead of 4th. We were also 2 points behind cardiff....we're now only one.

Now, 7 games until new year, when we can all assess where we are. The next 7 are:

    QPR v Preston, 15:00
    QPR v Cardiff, 15:00
    Hull v QPR, 15:00
    QPR v Watford, 19:45
    Leeds United v QPR, 15:00
    QPR v Swansea, 13:00
    Coventry v QPR, 12:15

In the previous 7 we've had swansea, forest, pompey away and reading, norwich and burnley at home. Those are far more difficult games! I was going into some of the past 7 hoping for a point....the next 7, I can see us winning them all!
We talk about wins not draws...but what about the effect playing us has had on the teams like forest, pompey swansea. A draw with us stemmed their any momentum they needed to go into next 3rd.
Forest and Reading are 11 points off us now!! Burnely are 9....basically 10 with the goal difference. I fully expect those 3 to be in the mix at the end.

If you're worried about swansea, look at their next game:

    Doncaster v Swansea, 15:00

Predict we'll be 6 points clear of them come 5pm next saturday.

In many ways the Preston and Hull games will be bigger tests than Cardiff. Everyone recognises that Cardiff will be a tough game and a draw against the team top of the league would be no disgrace (though disappointing). Draws away to Forest and Portsmouth are excellent results but at home to Preston and to a lesser extent away to Hull draws would represent points lost. Just hope we can kick on from our much improved home display agaisnt Reading and enjoy a convincing win against Preston. Anything else and given our long run of draws commentators and fans alike will start to think the R's promotion push has run out of puff.

our best home performance was the last one. Yet, if you listen to all the moaners on here it was yonks ago! My slight concern is who comes in for derry....and does hogan really deserve another chance if tommy smith can't play?

I say 11 points. We cannot beat Coventry at their ground as history shown.

Don't get too carried away we are unbeaten all season P.N.E. bottom, potential banana skin if we take them too lightly. watched them a couple of times on T.V. they're not as bad as it seems.

If Taarabt has as good a game and links up with Faurlin the way they did against Reading then both Preston and Cardiff should be walkovers.

not cocky just think that on paper, preston is a game I expect us to win....being qpr, it's normally the game we lose though!

Spot on. And watch out for Jon Parkin,"The" banana skin, himself

This is an incredible important match for us.Bar Jon Parkin, I expect 10 Preston players behind the ball.

There are no easy games but given PNE's fragility we must surely be looking at a big win. Be a good opportunity to play Jamie Mackie right in the centre upfront and set a formation/system to systematically feed him in - be good to get him scoring again; classic case of when he gets one he'll get more I think. Whatever we do I'd like us to absolutely fly out the traps and blitz them - we have it about us to do that.

I'd go with Mackie centre midish..

So if my maths is correct, you can see us having an unbeaten run of at least 24 games.

Good man. I bet you weren't anticipating that during pre season.
